@lorddaggeroff: It would have never been independently made with such a large scope and high production values

@savagerodent: It got a 6 because it is very much a love it or hate it game. The reviewer, while not hating it, lingers toward the latter. Many other people found their game of the year with this. Nobody is right or wrong when it comes to games like that, the experience it provides is so niche that will either click right in or seem boring and uninspired from the get go.

Personally I find it to be a very solid game.

@texasgoldrush: Ok, I respect your opinion about the W3 and BotW.

I'll try to be objective regarding the two games. TW3 suffers in its combat, the most lacking aspect of the game. However, it created a very interesting open world, that manages to capture the dark fantasy theme very well. It does not allow for the imaginative gameplay found in Zelda, but on the other hand, every are in its world is thematic and tied to an interesting narrative, making the whole world feel alive and believable. Finally, the side quests you uncover across the world are more often than not excellent and the world is filled with little details and ester eggs for those willing to explore every corner.

Zelda takes a very different approach. Its strength lies with the physics system and the excessive freedom the player is given. It allows for very imaginative gameplay, not to mention the world itself is finely crafted, diverse and incorporates elemental challenges to spice things up. Its combat is mediocre, even if it wasn't for the weapon degradation system, and for that reason it urges the player to use the environment and find out of the box solutions in order to dispatch enemies, rather than direct confrontation. As a result to concentrate the focus in the excellent world, other aspects like narrative, theme and story telling suffered greatly and are almost non existent. Finally, the shrines are a very mixed bag, providing a thought invoking challenge at their best, while pummeling the quality down when you have to go through the bland combat challenges or the mind numbing easy ones.

They're both excellent games, but my personal preference lies with TW3 due to its story telling and high level of immersion, in stark contrast to the vast playground Botw offers, stripped of any kind of immersion.

Opinions are very mixed considering this game, with passionate supporters and haters alike.

I'm still on the fence, I played the demo and liked it but on the other hand, it seems to be more of the same in a way. Perhaps i'll give it a shot when it'll be on a steam sale.

@texasgoldrush: It's a good game, certainly not the best game of the year, not even close. And yes, the majority has stopped talking about it, they're all looking into the next big thing for the Switch.

So when do you guys think they will shut down Bioware? Will they do the honorable thing and kill it swiftly or drag Bioware even lower with more multiplayer oriented half assed releases before they eventually kill it?

@texasgoldrush: I found the Witcher 3 to be a far superior experience to Breath of the Wild, as I play RPGs for the stories, characters and immersion. In my opinion, what TW3 managed with story telling in open world games is incredible and nothing sort of ground breaking.

Breath of the Wild severely lacks in all of the above, but it mitigates with its very open form gameplay, imaginable world and physics utilization. It didn't bring any breakthroughs to the open world genre though.

@sealionact: Persona 5 called the other day... told me it's sitting on a 93 on metacritic and a 9.0 user score. I replied that bringing metacritic into the conversation automatically devaluates ones opinion. Persona 5... what a fanboy, am I right?
