Personally, I think their dev cycle is ridiculous. Forza 2 and Forza 3 will have come out in the time it's taken them to make one game. I'm not trying to start the Forza vs GT argument here because I think both are really fantastic games, though GT seems to be more about extreme realism and Forza seems to focus more on accessibility (both great angles to play in the sim genre), but still.
When the only other racing sim out there for PS3 owners is GT5P, they've got to understand that we'd get impatient about it. If they offered some sort of relief for people who bought Prologue, I'd go buy it again today (I sold my copy for the same price I paid for it when I saw prices were trending downward). But what I'm seeing is a company that wants to milk their premium demo to double dip on their consumer base.
I mean, I'm still buying GT5, but I'm just a little aggravated at this.

the Forza games only have a fraction of the stuff that GT games have.
It is safe to say that game reviewers and the general public aren't exactly operating on the same level. I don't play nearly every game that comes out, I rarely even play a bad game, my metric for rating games is adjusted then to compare the games that I play to each other rather than to everything else that's out there.
In the case of GTA4, revieweres simply got out of hand for whatever reason. Their excitement raised the expectations for the game to the rest of us, and ultimately it was a long way from meeting those in the first place.
