@Sevenizz

It's possible the trailer is just outdated and what it really looks like just hasn't been revealed yet. They did say an HD update. HD would imply better graphics in my opinion, not just '720p' res

I suppose, but the fact that you even have a whole arsenal of guns takes away from the scare factor, so having a flashlight on your gun doesn't change much IMO. Try playing a game like Amnesia The Dark Descent if you haven't and you'll see what I mean. The main thing doom 3 had going for it was creepy atmosphere and jump scares... Back when I first played it.

In addition, we're speculating on the intention of keeping the flashlight separate. Or do you know something I don't? Also, I wasn't necessarily saying it was a wrong choice, I was just pointing out that his opinion counters what many players of the game thought about that issue. Yeah you could argue that that's the "appeal to popularity" fallicy, but it's more an opinion. Some people liked it, some people did not. That doesn't necessarily mean that it was intended or ok for them to have it that way. As you can see, because of the backlash they've decided to attach a flashlight in this version of the game. Anything they can do to insure sales, right?

tl;dr:

We don't know their intention, and while it's entirely possible they did it for gameplay reasons rather than technical reasons or otherwise, it was annoying to their player base and was countered by mods. I was merely pointing that out.

Unfortunately it's not enough to warrant a purchase from me, considering I already own the original game, as well as the first two dooms. The only incentives to buy it really are the new missions + resurrection of evil and that they are going to be on xbox 360/ps3 now.

That said, if I didn't still have a copy of the PC version i'd totally buy this package. I think it will be good for newcomers to doom though.

@ChaosUndivided It seems like they're updating the lighting but not the actual textures of the game. I watched the trailer too and looked pretty much the same as the old one.

@Landsharkk As evidenced by the various flashlight mods that were made for doom 3, I think you're in the minority on this one. A lot of folks found it annoying having to switch between flashlight and gun. I downloaded the flashlight mod myself.
