this is a redundant arguement. Two journalists can make a arguement based on their experiences but the reality is they have no clue what it is to create content. I believe this is a question for the artist and the content he wants to create. If the artist wants his viewers to experience a high fidelity experience because it will express his vision for the title, then the hardware is justified in the expression. on the other hand you have titles that do not require expensive hardware, but that was a decision made by the artist behind the game. I guess what I'm trying to say is that neither experience is superior to the other, they are tools for the artist to express themselves. Its a renaissance in game design, a very good time to be making and playing games. there is no set rule except one and that is " is it fun?" and more often then not game designers are finding more and more paths to make games fun.
I wouldnt say that. epic usually releases their engines for free. I've been using udk for about a year now along with many other indie developers. The reality is that the new unreal engine makes it even easier to develop for by streamlining the dev process. It's actually going to make it easier to create big budget looking games with less staff.
Dota 2 international tournament netted the Ukraine team Na'Vi 1 million for first place. Riot games announced their intention to outdo valve and will be hosting a 5 million dollar tournament. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about professional gaming with that kind of money on the line. It's absurd that college kids are making that kind of money, but if the sponsors want to pony up the cash I have no complaints. It's very possible to be seeing a StarLeague type show here in the us very soon. I for one am excited to see this happening, I like to think of the jobs that will be created in the industry. I think that's one area that alot of analyst overlook, the jobs being created by this revenue stream. We may not all have the talent to ever play for money but that doesn't mean we can't be the announcer or the guy working the camera.
@CCGR_Phoenix ; I would have agreed with you till I heard about the "douche tax" basically what Gabe Newell said is Valve is going to reward players that enhance the community. Players that don't serve the community I.E douchebags are going to be penalized for griefing and trolling and the example he gave of a punishment was they would have to pay full price for the game content and voip. Whereas players that were good sports and nice to other players would be rewarded with ingame content or possibly even a free subscription to the game. This kind of promotion for a better community is really going to set this game apart from HoN and Lol. In my personal opinion it should be really new player friendly. give it a chance valve is working really hard to give us players a good experience
graphix dont drive gaming. and better hardware is useless without better software.. a game can look pretty and still suk and you wont play it.. but a game can look like crap but be fun to play and millions will flock to it... i think the real comparison is and always will be... whos got the better exclusive titles ... xbox or ps3.
dont get me wrong hukt... just because i think that the ff franchise sucks doesnt mean i think the fans suck.. i just dont like the franchise. it just left a bad taste in my mouth, but anyway back to the point at hand... i think the difference in graphics between the ps3 and xbox is negligible and doesnt reduce the gaming factor of great games. argue all you want but graphix r secondary and always will be. and the fact that a website that is supposed to review games as a whole is pointing the finger at graphix to the point that it makes a completely stupid comparison article seems a little counter productive to me. i think its fine and well that you guys have products to stand behind. but as for gamespot this article was just stupid and pointless... and now i just realized that the joke is on me for wasting as much time as i did calling them out on it.. when i could have been playing.
i never said anything about the ps3 getting anything .. i just said that if its a good gaming experience then its gonna be good on all the consoles... except the wii [sometimes games can translate well on the wii... and sometimes they dont.] as for final fantasy i just think its way overated. ive played really good rpg's that have been overlooked because people settle for less like the ff series.. honestly if you guys have not played planescape torment or any of the fallout series then you dont know.. i did go thru ff7 in fact my friends made me.. i even went thru 50% of 9 .... i dont know what all the fuss is about .... ITS NOT THAT GOOD. in fact id be willing to say that its crap. because of those games i will never play anything ever again with the square logo on it
the final fantasy franchise was broken from the start.. it was never an rpg... at least in the real sense... but more a like a amusement ride. all the ffantasys were on rails. then finally when they released a mmo even that was broke. square soft should just go into animation like pixar .. its were they belong
