Bring back classic deathmatch and I am IN THERE LIKE SWIMWEAR! No one wanted Halo from this game, yet that's precisely what we're being offered online. :( No classic DM and 2 weapon loadouts are LAME. Who doesn't put the weapons on the map in a DOOM game?! It's the only reason I haven't doubled down on buying this game. I swear if it comes out as DLC... I AM DONE WITH VIDEO GAMES! :p
The worst part is, Street Fighter 5's servers are still an issue even this far into launch. There is a feature called "rollback" employed by the system which calculates who hit who and shows the result based on a few factors. This usually happens instantly and doesn't affect the match, but at least once or twice per match it rolls back to a point that it appears as though you're landing a hit but in actuality they blocked, and they have advantage. This advantage usually happens outside of the realm of human reaction time, so you basically see yourself hitting someone only to have the reality be them punishing you for continuing as if you hit them. It is the most infuriating system I have ever encountered in an online fighting game. NO OTHER online fighting game uses a system like this in such a poor way, yet here we are, months after release and no fixes.
I am so sad that my favorite series has been treated this way. I have well over 4000 hours into the various versions of Street Fighter 4, and I literally cannot play with a system this broken. My favorite pastime, that I have spent countless hours and dollars developing my skills in, going to tournaments, meeting up with friends to play, has been shattered. It is completely unenjoyable. Makes me super sad...
To top this off there is an inherent 8 frame delay in all moves done in the game built into the engine. That means in a perfect offline environment, a 3 frame move (the fastest moves in the game) takes (8 + 3) 11 frames to come out from button press to action on the screen.... THIS IS INSANE. Think of it this way. If the start up of a move is 20 frames (some of the longest startups in the game) and I want to react to it on time, I have to react within (11 minus 20) 9 frames or 144ms to hit it before it reaches me. 9 frames is an impossible amount of time to react unless you're a superhuman. Average reaction time hovers around 240ms ... so good luck! Playing fast and loose in this new game is now rewarded because people that are used to playing on reaction are being inherently punished for that style of play. Toss online lag into the mix and you have a completely unplayable clusterf*ck of nonsense. This game is such a mess! :(
i'm gonna laugh when all you people that are so against vista are sitting with your xp-loving jaws on the floor when a REAL dx10 game is released. This whole review was a horrible idea from the start and Gamespot should have waited on it. There's NOTHING to compare this to and it looks like garbage because it's a garbage port from the xbox360 (which DOESN'T use DX10 ... sorry fanboys). Go look at Crysis ... hell ... even the Conan MMO and tell me that DX9 will look the same. My freakin asp it will ... ... ignorance is bliss ...
