I dont even own a Wii, but I room with an owner of one at Virginia Tech.

I bought this game since he's allowed me access to the Wii, and I LOVE IT. I've already beaten the GC version 3 times and have had is since launch day, but this is def. worth the money

Yeah, definitively it represents royalty. Why don't you conduct a poll within a college campus, or a high school for that matter, and see where purple falls into on the "that color is cool" scale. You'll fall flaat on your face.

Granted, the GC didn't fail because of the color alone, but it certainly contributed. Seriously. Nintendo launched a purple lunchbox that looked like a toy. I love my GC, but im not sheep enough to say it was flawless. Purple sucked. If it was SO great, why didn't the Wii launch in purple again? haha. Think about it.

Anyways. POINT BEING.

NEW GENERATION. NEW COLOR. CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE.

thank you =)

If someone refuses to buy a console solely because of its color, its their own business. I personally heard as many positive comments about the GC design as I did negative. A lot of people seemed to think it was cute. It also came in a bunch of different colors shortly after launch. If color was the determining factor, the original XBOX wouldn't have sold a single unit, with the bile-green accents it had.

Speaking of the XBOX, did you notice that the 360's page is the same design as the XBOX, although the system don't much resemble each other? The PS3 pages look like the PS2 pages, despite a silver on black color scheme for the console instead of blue on black. I'm just saying that this is a pretty darn trivial issue, and I'd rather the GS devs work on one of the more pressing issues (can we PLEASE fix the words c|ass and sty|e?) first.

A Nintendo fanboy will always buy the console, but how do products sell apart from that? Word of mouth; people talking about how cool the product is; convincing others to buy it. Purple was an aspect that didn't help, but the games spoke for themselves. But for older gamers with entertainment systems don't want a purple toy sitting next to their sleek HD-DVD hardware, or black/silver surround sound system, etc. It's out of place.

I did notice Xbox360's page being green, but they still market the neon green color. Nintendo, since the 80's has marketed their logo as RED. I don't think the GC's color should be the definitive color, Nintendo will never touch upon purple again. Red, or some variation of it (similar to the blues used with PC and PS2/3 pages) should be used.

But oh well.

IMO, if you had to rank colors between that of green, blue, red, and purple...purple would be last, wouldn't you think?

But, if not to you, then I'm willing to bet the majority of GS users, or even America for that matter, would have purple ranked last. Think about it.

What kind of talk is that? The colour purple is popular. It happens to be my favourite colour, and I didn't own a GC. Just because a non-admirer has a problem with the console being purple doesn't mean that was a reason behind his/her non purchase. The paint scheme chosen by Nintendo certainly gave the GC a bad image compared to the slick PS2, but a bright red GC would have had an equally negative aura. What's more 'kiddy' than a primary colour? Equally, the black GC didn't help the system sell well. People buy a system for the games. You're logic is flawed beyond belief.

lol, okay buddy.

Where did I say to make the GC red? your mistake #1
Did I not say "the games spoke for themselves" ? Implying they are freaking awesome. The color is what made it hard to get a "cool" Word of Mouth around town. Your mistake #2
The color purple is popular? LOL. Yeah, the point I made was it's not AS popular, get your facts right. Your mistake #3.
Just because YOUR fav. color is purple, doesn't make the MAJORITY of the popular consensus of America think that. Like I said. I guarantee if you took a poll at a college or high school, Purple is not as popular amongst America as other colors. There was a negative connotation with having the GC as purple to LAUNCH. That set Nintendo's "kiddy" standard by default, it may have done better launching in black.

Thanks buddy, but you should read all the posts on this forum that i've posted before running your mouth. You actually didn't make much sense and made your own conclusions. You lose.

Thank you and good-bye =)

[QUOTE="grarap"]The gamecube didn't flop because it was purple, and as far as I'm concerned the colour holds no negative connotations. And you won't get anywhere if you call Gamespot lazy (which they're anything but). Now kindly go and reconsider how you request things on this site. Shifty_Pete

wow, were you living under a rock during the last generation? The GC got tons os flack for being purple compared to the "cool" models of PS2 and Xbox. Purple is not a good appliance color. NOA President REGGIE, in an interview with Matt C. from IGN said before the Wii was fully unveiled that it would NOT be purple, and that purple was a mistake learned from GC.

Who the hell bases their console-buying decisions on color? I thought the GC did badly because of the abysmal 3rd-party support and Nintendo's usual bang-up job of focussing their attention in the wrong areas (e.g. connectivity), not because purple was one of the color options.

Anyway, purple is the color of royalty.

And who cares if they're lazy? They actually have to do alot here and I would personally set back a few things just to relax. They have to fix glitches, write reviews and stuff, moderate the forums and now you are asking them to change the color of a stupid page from purple to....? Silver? Who cares, its one color. It doesn't make Nintendo lose any money. Get over it.ZanzibarNinja

look. The other sites have colors RESPECTIVE to what thay company/console displays. Purple is lame. Yes, it's just a color, but it's "JUST a color" to the thousands of people and general public that dissed or disdained that "color".

There's a reason why all appliances marketed today aren't the color purple. Think about it guy.

And ohhh yeah, it's really like IGN and other sites don't have reviews and glitches to maintain? psh, whatever. It's a simple color scheme, IT'S NOT THAT HARD TO CHANGE. This isnt a maintanance issue as your brilliance has brought forth as examples. It's a one time, done deal.

They should make it red or something. A color that's not given flack for.

I'll get over it when it's changed and REFLECTIVE of what Nintendo represents nowaday, which isn't GC's purple. Thank you.

Presumably it wouldn't be anything more than just changing some CSS? I have no idea, but that sounds right. Interestingly enough, 1UP skins all of their Nintendo pages purple as well. It seems like blue or silver would be better for the Wii / DS pages - although the PC and Playstation pages are already skinned blue.gakon5

That's why IGN is better than this site, or 1up for many reasons.

I still like this site, I just feel they don't give a flying crap compared to other COMPETING SITES. I think GS should care about this at least somewhat.

LAZINESS. GS is LAZY. Point blank.

It's purple because that's how it has been for GameCube. It's just become standard.Thorpe89

Wouldn't you agree that it was a mistake? That Nintendo has learned from it, and their focus is now different?

shouldn't the NEW generation Nintendo has moved in be reflective of the fact they have moved on from purple?

the Wii and DS are not Gamecube, or remnant of the mistake of GC's color.

*shrug* just my opinion.

I still think it's not a hard thing to fix on this site, it's just laziness
