It makes sense. Older musicians make music that only work because they are old (Johnny Cash on his death bed comes to mind). So, it's the same with actors.
I don't want a 20 y/o Bond (unless it's a Netflix prequel thing that I won't watch hah). I also don't want a famous actor.... I remember Daniel Craig in Layer Cake. <<< Great movie.....
@restatbonfire: It's still a good show. It's season 5 and the newness has worn off (2014 was a while ago). I'm guessing that a joke, or even an entire episode, will be made about this.
@hollywood1: I'm with you. I could forgive most of the movie's faults if the Kombat was actually good. Like you said, for the most part, it wasn't. You don't even have to go back to Bruce classics to find movies with more technical (Jet Li), more creative (Donnie Yen), more fun (Jackie Chan) and even more brutal (Tony Jaa) fight scenes. Also, the environments were very bland (cave, forest, shack, warehouse, etc).
Btw, I didn't really like the electric effects. I did like Sub-Zero's ice effects, especially the subtle ones. Every time he landed a punch there were little ice effects and crunchy sound effects that weren't over the top, but gave his blows more oomph.
I'm not offended by the score (although it did make me attempt to watch the whole movie). To each their own I guess.
SPOILERS
I thought the first half was passable. I stopped watching shortly after Raiden started teleporting people to 1v1 battles because it seemed like lazy writing and the fight scenes weren't that good.
Can anyone explain why Raiden couldn't just teleport every bad guy into a 5 vs 1 battle? Or how bout teleport them into a volcano or into space for instant death? I'm just asking, and maybe if I finished the movie I'd have been given an answer.
In 2077 alternate world... the local big shot is gonna have a personal driver, the hacker isn't gonna trust AI, the Nomad isn't gonna trust AI, most people shouldn't trust anything, etc. And, look at how bad the NPC drivers are. They ARE using self-driving cars.
@Atzenkiller: Yup, and by 2077 people might hate self driving cars and demand to drive them themselves. Like you said, it's an alternate reality. Despite the wonky controls (although I don't get why people complain that it's hard to control a car that is going over 100 MPH), I liked driving in the game, and I don't want Delamain driving for me.
Bezos doesn't complain that the Expanse doesn't have fully automated ships. Musk needs to learn from a fellow billionaire. Sometimes you just need to suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride (pun very much intended).
