@pillarrocks: don't think that would be shown, today was third party only. Metroid Prime is a first (or possibly second ) party game. Definitely not a third party game.
@nintendians: nah they'll spend effort for the first one, but then they will just reskin that year after year, and add a new mode every now and then when sales drop.
@illegal_peanut: they might do the player likenesses, with the NIL, now that they can. I'd be surprised if they didn't try to get that for some top players, at least.
I love Nintendo but having to double dip is so frustrating. Plus we have to deal with the subpar screen for 2 to 3 years. If they released an OLED model up front, I'd pay $150 more for it.
@rabidgiantsr: That is true You can look at it the other way, though. The Oculus Pro is $1,000, which made it even more of a niche product, and even less of a mianstream price point And this offers more pixels, a faster GPU, and the same "mixed reality" technology At half the price. And the quest 2 is still an option, and back to $300 now, so there is still a budget friendly option available. Also many would argue $500 for a PS5 is a mainstream price point for their audience... So you are right, but it is also a win too, better tech at a cheaper price.
"Like other Quest devices, the Quest 3 is a wireless VR headset that runs all games and apps directly on the headset, meaning you don't need to plug it into a gaming PC or console to play. It also means game compatibility and performance depend on the headset's internal hardware, but based on the specs, the Quest 3 looks to be a big upgrade over the previous iterations"
But You can still hook it to a PC with either quest link, or air link (which is somewhat similar to cloud gaming, get PC graphics without the wires) and play oculus and steam games. Then you are not limited by the hardware.
Infact, Quest 2 is the most widely used Steam VR headset.
