Extreme tourism is similar to active tourism in terms of the involvement of tourists in the process. The extreme tourist is also forced to master all the necessary travel skills. Unlike active tourism, the main goal of extreme tourism is to get the maximum adrenaline rush at the expense of risk. So, an active tourist will climb to the top along the simplest path, and an extreme one - along the most difficult. Unlike ecotourism, extreme tourism is sometimes associated with the destruction of the environment, as it is carried out with the use of various technical means, for example, ATVs and SUVs, destroying the soil and scaring away all animals. There is also a kind of extreme tourism related to ecotourism. It is tourism with survival skills that can be learned from indigenous peoples, such as building snow shelters, making a fire without matches or a lighter.
What connects active, extreme and ecotourism is the lack of infrastructure: hotels, cable cars, cafes:. In Russia, a peculiar and not always harmonious hybrid of these three directions is emerging - commercial tourism, which takes everything commercially profitable from various directions, and this eclecticism deprives tourism of an ideological component (see my article active tourism vs commercial). For example, you can go on a hike, but at the same time you do not have to carry a load, it will be brought for you in an SUV, turning it into a mess all the way, or on horses along a difficult pass (the suffering of a horse does not bother anyone). The service staff will prepare your food. You are taken on an excursion to the pottery workshop, you can even try to sculpt something. To get the maximum adrenaline rush, you will be thrown off the bridge on a tourniquet. You will play some games like a rope course. With all the attractiveness, ease and versatility of such a vacation, it has a number of disadvantages. Try to answer the questions: 'Will you be able to independently travel the land you have visited, will you be able to survive on it?', 'Have you acquired any really useful skills, a skill that will be useful to you in later life?' are you really good friends with whom you want to communicate further? '

Most of the trips of the "New Nomads" tourist club are active tourism (travel, overnight trips, weekend trips). We do not have service personnel, everyone is a tourist. Since we have a well-coordinated team, the main thing that is required from beginners is the ability to walk and carry personal things, the rest of the skills they will master over time in the hikes. From ecological tourism we take what we try to conduct our trips far from settlements (probably because we live in a big city). For us, the complete absence of other people is not fundamentally, but vacationers should not drown out the sounds of nature. For example, if you on the shore, instead of the surf, hear other people and music from the car speakers, then this is not a rest. On our hikes, you will hear birdsong and the sounds of a guitar or komus by the fire. It is important for us that our camp is secluded, autonomous and occupies a separate clearing, in which there is no one else. We have elements of education, the leaders of the hikes will teach not only the skills of a tourist life, but also psychophysiological methods for recreation and development, and will tell about the nature of their native land. We do not need various games, popular at trainings, and trainings on their own, but as preparation for situations that will arise in a future campaign.

For example, the ropes course is usually conducted as fun and teamwork training, for us to master the ropes is a necessary part of preparing for a hike with elements of mountaineering. Team building is necessary for the well-coordinated work of a group on a catamaran when rafting on a difficult river. And for those who want to enhance the sensations in our hikes there is walking on hot coals or something like an ice "jacuzzi" by the waterfall. Thus, we do not artificially create obstacles in the quality of entertainment and do not cause adrenaline bursts, as in commercial tourism, but prepare for the difficulties that, as we plan, will arise in difficult hikes, and which we will overcome with a prepared and friendly team.
The successful activity of the travel club, in my opinion, is to achieve three interrelated goals (which we intuitively follow in the travel club "New Nomads"), ensuring the development of our community.
The first goal is to acquaint everyone with the beautiful corners of nature in our homeland, to teach people to love nature, to realize the inexplicable craving of people for travel (see the article "Why do we strive to the mountains?"). Tourist trips are an opportunity to test yourself, improve your health, and live a healthier and more natural life for a while than an urban one.
The second goal is to form a close-knit team of like-minded people. Only in a team is it possible to pass difficult mountain and water routes. Currently, untouched nature has been preserved in hard-to-reach places, and those natural monuments that are located near cities are distorted by crowds of vacationers (see the article "Active rest vs commercial tourism"). This motivates us to go on long hikes that require a team.
