I'm counting games w/ street dates or at least "2024" dates. No "TBAs" (even though yes, I know anything can get delayed to 2025). Mine are:

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Ultros
Pacific Drive
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Alone in the Dark
Tales of Kenzera: Zau
SaGa: Emerald Dream
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
Avowed
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Frostpunk 2
Indika
Sorry We're Closed
A Fox Tale

And I'll throw in Early Access games that are basically guaranteed to launch in Early Access in 2024:

Hades II
Hyper Light Breaker
Windblown

I'd love to list Silksong, but...I think that's going the route of Skate 4 and Half-Life 3.

I've never been a particular fan of Lovecraftian horror, until I read Alan Moore's Providence. Now I'm definitely more interested, though the traditional "old fishing town" setting is definitely the least appealing. Blooborne (besides hamlet), Conan, Event Horizon, Achtung Cthulhu, etc are more my jive.

BUT, that doesn't mean I completely avoid "fishing town" settings. I'd still love to play Dredge down the line.

I'm challenging myself to buy just one new backlog-type game per month in 2024. I'm torn between Prince of Persia and Angel at Dusk (an HR Giger looking shmup). PoP looks great and is done by Ubisoft Montpellier, Ubisoft's studio w/ an actual soul. But...do I want to give my money to Yves Guillemot? Tough choice.

I'll eventually play LaD 8 once I'm caught up in the series. Tekken 8 I'll buy (doesn't count as "backlog-type") and maybe Momodora and Howl eventually. ...and BlazBlue Entropy Effect. Man, this challenge will be difficult.

I wish I had this enchanted feeling. Last section of the game (when the while ball came into play) was just too abstruse for me. Thanks, guide! For letting me finish the game, but only feel unsatisfied doing it.

I love VGM. Probably what I've listened to most over the past half decade or so. And a great thing about it, is you don't NEED to play (read: buy) the game to experience it. The context of the game makes the music better, arguably, but still, it is not necessary to appreciate it.

Of these, I've listened to Laika, Hi-Fi Rush, Starfield, SF6, and D4. Laika being my favorite. The others I'll have to take a listen to, particularly the Japanese and indie games, as they tend to have the best music, imo. Western AAA game music is a tad too generic in being cookie cutter cinematic or ambient-ic for my tastes. But they have some good pieces here and there.

@astrokidwell: why should dollar to play time ratio matter if a game is good? lol

Speaking of Resident Evil, why is there no article about Kamiya leaving Platinum, GS? I've always loved this site and is still one of my places to check reviews. But real news is lacking.

@nilsdoen: So every RPG should get a 7, since it's a clone of Dungeon?
