@akassassin11: yeah I used to play online a lot more. So when it was time to relax and play solo was annoying to get invites every 5 minutes. Knew there had to be a way. Found that trick and used it every time I wanted to go invisible.
@frank_castle: You do realize that knowing the names of even 5-10 pokemon is the equivalent of knowing the names of the ninja turtles, x-men or any other fictional character that was famous in your youth.
What's even more "sad" as you put it is knowing that the ninja turtles were actually just named after famous artists.
@akassassin11: actually PS3 did have an appear offline. Was just hidden and not an official thing.

You did that and you would be online but no one would see you were on. You would know it worked because on the flip you would not be able to see who was on. Again not official but it worked. Used it a few times myself.
@El_Zaggy I am not sure you understand what he means. Rooting for a sports team is dramatically different then rooting for a brand. Having uncharted on one system is great for people with a ps, but it is not good that not everyone gets to enjoy the awesome experience and story that the team has put forth. I can understand first party because the company fronts the money to make it.
However things like third party should not be exclusive to one system over the other- Imagine you not being able to watch a movie unless you owned a sony TV and Blu ray player. Each system doing well is not only good for developers and the people who make the system, it is also good for consumers. With every game sold well and enjoyed by many people more games can be enjoyed.
It is selfish to want games like tomb raider, street fighter, fallout, witcher to be allowed on one system only and never be experienced by millions of other people.
As for your sports reference you can go to a sporting event or watch at home and root for your team but you don't wish the other team to disappear from existence do you? You don't wish the other teams fans never feel some sort of winning do you? If so then you have bigger problems then just being a fanatic.
@wookiegr:COD was not exclusive just timed. And unless I am mistaken they do not make COD, so yeah if someone else does it why not take advantage and use it as a selling point for your system.
This is not a defending of them though, They are now doing this stuff because of that horrible launch. We will take it though!!
I have been lucky this gen with both consoles. When they go down, I do not seem to be affected. However this one hit me. Was fine friday and saturday. Mrs and baby went out today so figured I would catch up on some gaming, worked fine. Then I went to pre order primal. Down hill from there! damn you primal haha. saw it was not installing so restarted my system and then problem ensued. got the stupid error, thought it was just me for awhile.
On a side note- for anyone who does not know, if you "Go offline" then your games should work. Just can't be connected to live and play.
