I miss the feather... why did they never put it back in? and question, why is everyone comparing GTA with Mario Kart? They're two completely different genres on two completely different systems. While I haven't played either, I have played some of the earlier games in the series... and they're both great series. It's like saying, which ones best, "The Seventh Seal" or "Breathless." Both amazing films, just like the two series are amazing series (although games have yet to reach the art status of films, but that's another post) but you cannot say one is better than the other. Just favor one, but don't say it's better than the other. This is why I don't like rating systems. Gamespot should just keep the review and the good parts, bad parts section, and loose the number rating. It makes us think that you can compare these games...which you can't. Just my view anyways.
