If I had to pick just one console last gen, the Gamecube wouldn't be my choice, but I'm glad I owned one. Wind Waker, RE4, and Metroid Prime easily made up for the already low cost of the console.

AC Revelations and AC3.
Worth renting, though.
Bioware writes companion characters well, but the main plots of their games has always been their weakness IMO.
The writers seemed to forget that the characters were what made ME great, not the generic scifi plot, and they almost entirely ignored them at the very end in favor of whatever the hell they were trying to do. I think they were trying to send a message about sacrifice, or something along those lines? Very original.
Same here, but for me, that's just part of getting older. I'm sure I'll be more excited about the next gen when it's actually here, but right now it's in the back of my mind.
Also, the fact that the only future game that really piques my interest (GTA5) is a current-gen title adds to my feeling of indifference.
I did with L.A Noire I thought "Is that it?" and have not gone back to it.

I remember that for some reason, late in the game, they actually switched the player's character from the fairly interesting protagonist you played for most of the game, to some other guy that was basically a shallow he-man Mary Sue. I can't remember either of their names, but it was one of the worst storytelling decisions I've ever seen.
I've learned to not really give a shit about video game storytelling. If it sucks, that figures because it's a video game, and if it's good, it's a pleasant surprise.
My non-gamer friends and family are much more well-read than the gamers I know. The gamers tend to stick to fiction, and in particular, they tend not to stray from extremely popular fiction like ASOIAF.Â
It's not like they don't read, but it might be harder to pull them into a new book or series that they know nothing about.
I prefer ranged characters (bow or gun), but if I had to choose between melee weapons or magic, I'd choose melee.
Even in fiction like Star Wars, I always found the Jedi dull compared to the regular folk.
Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Arkham City. Arkham City's only letdown was how poorly designed many of the non-Batman predator challenges were.
I've spent more hours on Skyrim than any other game, but it doesn't stand out like the above 3.
Echoes of the Roman Ruins, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Spectre Induction, Mass Effect
I like seeing Grim Fandango at 52. Overall it's an okay list.
While Halo was the first non-PC FPS that I liked, it didn't really give us anything extraordinary that PC FPS hadn't already done. It was just a great FPS that happened to be on a console, and therefore reached a new audience. It'd be in my top 100, but I don't have a problem with listing COD4 over it.
COD4's SP campaign was short, but might be the best FPS campaign I've ever played.
