This review is just bad, biased and quite honestly highly suspect. Let me just breakdown the reality here: the game needs a little more technical polish. That aside, if you like the souls like sub genre, you will like this game. Period. I am loving it so far despite the need for a little polish.

Let's boil down what this review suggests is justification for scoring this game barely above Redfall: "I don't like nearly everything that has defined the souls like genre for decades, therefore I am going to review the game poorly." "but back when I reviewed Thymesia a year ago and encountered the exact same negatives I stated about Lords, I highlighted them in my review as positives... 👍"

Wtf Gamespot

lmfao yah right.

just another attempt at a garbage company peddling nonsense to its brainwashed fanbase until they lock its lifespan down to a science via "updates" and OS incompatibility schemes. The most anti-consumer company on the planet and that's saying something when nearly every corporation believes the only goal is to ripoff the customer in favor of the shareholders.

Enjoy the sparse games apple allows on their platforms and shuns everyone one else and the majority of the gaming ecosystem, and far better gaming services, merely because apple wants it all or nothing.

@mogan: gotcha. I forget as a moderate you were merely speculating. Didn't intend to come off so harsh. My apologies.

@mogan: Are you suggesting GS aren't even going to put out a baldurs gate review merely Because most outlets have already reviewed it so there's no incentive or need to even do a game review? Is It that being late means less clicks and thus less ad revenue?

Is constantly spamming the site with ads and links to storefronts that much more important?

Do not forget where you came from GS

The intelligence level that these garbage movies target, will sadly watch it no matter how trash it may be.

Cool and all, but the game is still unfinished and merely the aftermath of a fraudulent development and marketing campaign.

You can fully bling out a dried pile of excrement all you want.

It's still dodoo

I knew within an hour of playing this, as it was currently optomized and in terms of asset streaming, there was absolutely no way this could run on last Gen systems and certainly not switch.

It should be an interesting time in the next 3 months or so maybe longer where this will probably severely tarnish the release and success of the game. Primarily because I think they are going to be in a lot of trouble and are in a position now where they either cancel the pre orders (were there pre orders for these versions????) and have to issue mass refunds as they don't know how to make it work and even if they do pull off a miracle and make it work on those systems it will be so severely downgraded and compromised that people will be upset either way.

I think firstly they're making a pretty big mistake by just punting the release down a month or two over and over again scrambling probably behind the scenes to try and get it to work when ultimately at this point because it was so successful they should just come out and be honest about those previous versions offer some sort of consolatory gesture and move on because you could really feel it during release, and I know this sounds weird, but I just felt it... that these devs are probably not even able to enjoy the success of the project they put out even with all the controversy simply because they probably have been scrambling far before release trying to figure out what the hell to do with these last gen versions.

Ultimately I think that's where the controversy will lie with all of this in the end is that they probably knew a great deal of time before release that they were having a real hard time getting this to work on last Gen versions and I'm not positive that they did do pre-orders for those versions but if they did it will be pretty shady that they allowed that to go forward without having confidence that they can make the the game work. Which puts them into CDPR territory of shade.

When you look at a game like what was it I think Gotham Knights that canceled their last gen version or there was some title recently I can't remember what it was that ultimately just straight up canceled the last gen versions of the game which I guarantee you were in production and probably cost them a ton of money. Yet they ultimately had to make the choice of disappointing fans early or getting into some sort of Financial and honesty liability later on that could severely affect their reputation longer term.

@samyar_hemmati: have you played the second demo yet? Wow it looks even worse visually. I don't deny the combat is decent, but almost all of the rest fo the systems and design choices in all 3 of these titles I found directly made the game experience worse.

Wo Long carries with it many of those systems, and despite having great combat, I simply cannot pay full price for that. The cost/benefit for me personally just doesnt justify it. I do think though, that despite the terrible loot system, UI, story format, overworld map, reused locations, and godawful level design; Nioh and Nioh 2 did definitely look better than this. However, I think I like this fast-paced parry and counterattack system better in Wo Long.
