I bought a used 4 usb 80 GB Motorstorm bundle PS3 off of amazon for $265 and I was wondering if there is a difference between this model and the 60 GB PS3 in terms of the die size of the cpu. Are they both 90 nm? I was under the impression that the 80 GB was a 65nm...

Well I'm going with a refurbished fully checked out unit and yeah I will invest in a new warrenty as well. I'm not worried though. Anything that is more reliable than the ps2 sounds good to me!

Buying used systems is NOT a good idea. :sStealthMonkey4
I know but I actually am one of the few who likes FULL backward compatibility so I have no choice. I've had a fat ps2 brand new since 2001 and it hasn't crapped out on me so maybe used and a couple years old ps3 will do just as well :)

My 60gb was pre-owned & I've had it for a year now, using it nearly every day. It's awesome. Maybe I've been lucky up to now though because there have been a lot of reports on that version crapping out. Take good care of it & you can't hurt your chances. Also back up your save data just in case.

Yeah I've heard about a few more units crapping out when a large number of people were playing Batman:AA on the 60GB.

The one I'm looking at is a refurbished 60 GB PS3 from a reputable seller on ebay so I'm hoping I'm not the unfortunate one to get a bad system.

I guess I should look for a backward compatible 80 GB one as well just incase I see a good deal.

Lol @ the guy recommending a 360. I respect the 360's games but I have zero respect for the hardware!
