When I try to run a check disk for my hdd at startup my computer screen goes blank. The microsoft windows loading screen comes up and loads, but after that it goes blank. Could it be my hdd that is causing it, or something else. I have a 320 gb seagate drive.

I hve a 320gb sata hdd and i just bought a new 500gb sata hdd. I didnt want to raid the hdds but i wanted to have another drive on my pc to move large files to. I wasn't really sure how to do it so i looked around online and followed some instructions. I put my windows xp disk in and partitioned the new drive. It also installed windows xp on that drive too. So now when I start windows up it asks me which windows xp do i want to load. Can anyone give me instructions to clear xp off of my new hdd and just use it for more space on my current xp hdd.
