I just got a new 500gb sata hdd. I installed it and it works execpt that it is showing up in the safely Remove Hardware in the taskbar. The computer thinks that it is a removeable hdd. How do i fix this?
It's just windows weirdness...nothing to worry about..windows just thinks it's an external drive...why? Because when you lay it down literally windows is nothing but a bunch of 1's and 0's laid out on a magnetic platter... so obviously it can't do anything but what it's pre-programmed to do. Maybe there's a fix for it.. I've never heard of it. But you wouldn't really be fixing anything since there's nothing wrong.
it's because SATA drives are supposed to be hot-swappable.. i.e. you can just pull it out and plug another one in, and windows will be fine with it. as far as windows is concerned, that SATA drive might as well be a 500gb USB flash drive. there might be a way to fix it, but i can't remember it right now... google around and something might turn up.
