I don't see how this is sustainable. Now that the whole "Season Pass" DLC idea has taken hold, you'll be spending $90-$100 per game with the initial cost and DLC. And with each franchise putting out an installment every year, it's going to be too costly for gamers to play multiple games.

Besides, what major improvements have we seen in Assassin's Creed since Ezio's arrival? As they said in this article, the franchise is becoming bogged down in mediocrity. By capitalizing on a roll of yearly game releases, they are neglecting any breathing time to return to the drawing board and produce a markedly superior game each time.

Thanks for this article. My recent roommates have had trouble understanding why I focus on games so much. They tend to play a game on the TV, while watching a show on the computer, and texting or do something else all at the same time. I tell them that good games are meant to be enjoyed in their entirety. In the same way that when one reads a novel he or she doesn't do anything else. So every little aspect has to come together to make a great game. One roommate mutes the TV when he plays Battlefield: Bad Company and blares music over it. It's not a bad way to play, but that game has such incredible audio that it's a shame he wants to ignore it. In the same way, I can't stand to play a story based game like Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed without giving it my full attention. I find myself spending more time doing in depth research on the story line of a game instead of worry about the actually gameplay.

Remind me what the motive is behind the Reapers. It's been a while since my last playthrough of ME1 which I think did the most to explain them. We know what their goal is but I can't remember the motivation. They are not constructive at all which is usually a part of motive unless it's something emotional, like revenge. They propagate themselves but to what end? They simply head back off into deep space to wait again. I feel like I'm forgetting something big.
