Oh yeah, remember that game everyone was looking forward to? The Old Republic? I think Bioware developed that. While Bethesda bounces between casual and their hardcore fans, and arguably tries to make "better," game experiences (they miss the point sometimes, but I do believe they're smart enough to recognize the problems - Skyrim was a leap over Oblivion).
Putting Bioware in the same boat as Bethesda is ignorant. Bioware stopped making good games a while ago.
Why Blizzard kills their own product, I don't know - the new choices they make couldn't be less interesting. Maybe to unveil their next big MMO around the time ESO launches.
However if ESO is like Morrowind, they'll have a tough time competing. That game has acquired enough legend-hype over the years that anyone will pick up ESO just to be trendy, and if it's actually like Morrowind in terms of lore / setting / style / character customizations (hopefully even more so), there will be no shortage of MMO players for that game, myself included.
No one is worse than EA. Just burn EA down like an effigy of all things bad. Burn em to the ground because they'll never ever learn. But maybe other companies will, when EA tanks. Blizzard and Activision probably still have time, EA does not. It's a cluster**** of piss poor ideas.
Well, I mean, once they pave the way for the generation of gamers, and make all these horrible games the norm, they'll be able to slowly introduce the same old stuff as new features and content. It's a lot easier to perpetuate your stupid businesses if you continually progress and regress as you phase out the audience that is primarily no longer interested.
OH yeah, Bioware's quality has done nothing but improve. /sackarism
I like games, I really do. I like Battlefield, and damned if it couldn't be good. But all the microtransaction, all the DLC bs...it makes no one want to play. Well no one with a brain. Because we don't see it as a one time investment, gaming investment, we see it as EA trying to get into your head, trying to get you to buy more and more as time goes on. Everyone has to advertise, and companies need to sell products. But there are plenty of successful businesses that do not resort to these tactics, and furthermore are not so blatant about it.
This is a greed move too, duh - pull advertisements so they don't have to pay for em and then get the game returned, because the returns are coming in at a massive rate. If you want a return on Origin, just tell them about the GAMEPLAY bugs - don't try to play up connectivity issues.
They don't want you as a costumer, because if you'll notice the steam icon in your tray, you'll notice you already ARE one. They want to bring PC gaming - into the living room, into the lives of CONSOLE gamers.
THEN WHAT? THEN WHAT YOU SAY?
Then you can develop PC titles, and get sales from ALL gamers.
Think of it this way: They want it to be known as Thief, not Thief 4, its a next-gen launch. It doesn't want to be tied down with baggage. It fits the theme, IMO - big Thief fan here, admittedly, but I turn a harsh critic's eye to anything. But they would also want to cue people in that it's the 4th entry. It's just kind of odd, and maybe it will draw people's attention. I can't do anything but wish Thief success, because the atmosphere is so unique.
Such a simple thing to pick on, I care much much more about the game quality.
