[QUOTE="Gamingcucumber"]Well because it can turn out to be expensive in the long run, which is why Sony is forced to close down studious and lay people off. If a 1st party studio screws up and make a flop it is much much worse than if a 3rd party does it. And being a inhouse developer can severly limit your creativity. I'm not saying it's all bad, and I DO think Microsoft should get at least a couple of more studios under their wings, but it's not appealing to develope for a single exclusive console anymore from a studio perspectiveJavy03
Actually it's cheaper in the long run and the company that has been closing down studios big time has been MS, not Sony. Exclusives are expensive to buy and even more expensive to keep because the more successful the game the more the company will ask for the next time it's time to negotiate. The main benefit to buying exclusives is that you can either have a company that is good at what they do give a great shot at a hit, or just insure an exclusive game for the time periods your 1st party studios can't release their games. Having a solid line of 1st party franchises is a better long term plan while buying exclusives and DLC is a better short term plan.

Making first party games this gen is risky and expensive. If a game does not sell about 2 or 3 mil then the company ends up lossing a lot of money. In the begining of this gen most game companies, Capcom, EA, Activision, allsaid that in order to make a profit they would have to go multiplatform for all their games. They have stated that it is not profitable to make exclusives this gen. Rather then fight this new trend, Msoft embraced it. And they a doing a great job working with third parties. They know people would rather pay to play a game today than wait 6months to a year for an extra skin or bonus level.

I'll name 2 games that benefit from Sony doing First Party games, KillZone2 and Gran Tourismo 4. Those games took only a few years and millions of dollars to develop.

It's fun, nothing revolutionary. Wish more people use headsets.

Owned platforms in parentheses

1. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2, Xbox)
2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS, XBLA, PSP: DXC)
3. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2)
4. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (do not own, but want)
5. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (do not own, but want)

I've never been a fan of the Belmont-styIe CV's (i.e. Rondo of Blood, Super CV IV, etc.), and think Curse of Darkness doesn't get nearly as much praise as it deserves. It does things that don't exist anywhere else in the series, and does those things extremely well (item stealing, combining and familiar training/evolution).

SotN has familiar leveling, the more you use them the more experence they gain and the they more powerful moves / attacks and magic.

Because a lot can happen in 3 years, but a lot less can happen in one year.

My list would have to be (in no order)

Simon's Quest

SotN

Aria of Sorrow

Dawn of Sorrow

Order of Ecclesia

I have to mention Portrait of Ruin just for the Dracula Death fight at the end.
