That ending was not bull****. Tell me that if you were in Joel's position, with everything you've seen, everything you've experienced, you wouldn't do the exact same thing. Joel got his humanity back, while the human race had lost it's. The ending does not drop the game from a 9 to an 8.

Joel did what any caring father would do, after seeing it all. People are just too used to seeing supermoralistic characters always doing the "right" thing. Sometimes characters may have a human side and be swayed by human emotions.
What makes a game good, is that you connect to it and enjoy it. Its simple as that. People will write longass essays about characters, plot, gameplay etcetra, but sometimes you've got to see it simple. If you connect to a game and enjoy it, it is a good game for you no matter how much people tells you it sucks. If you dont enjoy a game you'd find it bad no matter how much others yell in you ears on how good the game is. There is simply no objectivity possible here (unless you define good and bad technically, in which case a good game is the one which runs flawlessly without any bugs and a bad game is the one that refuses to even launch.)
