@smoke1125 the reason x-box has been kicking the ps3 is price.
in terms of graphics and such ps3 has been in the lead for quite a while, now, 4/5 years now, so considering that the ps4 hardware is slightly better than xbox, and it is 100$ cheaper, and sony didn't shot themselves in the foot with hyper intrusive DRM measures, and a spybot, you had to see it coming.
i still think all of this fighting is stupid, get a pc instead.
@stan_boyd @rasputin177 sure you can, if you spent 5 years of your life working on a project as big as videogame is, and people started talking shit (with or without reason) you would take it very personally.
hell, i don't even know how old you are, but i'm sure that if you aren't still in school/university at some point in your life you attended classes, and i'm also sure that one day you worked really fucking hard on a test/essay/presentation and your teacher thought it was just ok, or maybe it was crap, and you took it in a very bad way.
if you invest enough of yourself in something, if it goes bad, you take it too personally, and that's it.
well, second hand games go for 30€ give or take, depending on original price and release date, so add another fee and it is AGAIN too expensive for the average gamer to buy the games it wants to buys, so what's he gonna do once he can't afford it?
well he's gonna download it illegally of course, or give up on the system altogether to get a pc or a ps4, this is the biggest shot in the foot ever.
you might get the EA's and the activision's on board with this new moneymilking skill, but the gamers won't fall for it.
this always online thing is going to destroy games like this for years to come.
game companies are so focused on breaking fucking revenue records that they add these features to "help gamers have a more social" gameplay, but neglect the fact that they need basic infrastructures like servers running well so that these problems won't happen.
it's a sad display every single time this happens, and as always, gamers forget they vote with their wallets, and buy broken games like this.
the specs really don't seem much, will this be the rise of the pc as a gaming platform again?
and i do hope microsoft do the smart thing and that filthy filthy windows 8 away from their console, that's an even bigger deal breaker than showing up with no pants and underwear to a job interview. i mean, they bounced from the HD-DVD flop, with ease, but a complete screw-up on the os department, there's no coming back from that.
this discussion is just an exercise in futility, yes, high end graphics are worth the trouble, if the story you want to tell involves any realism, like the example heavy rain set, or if the immersion of the game in that world depends on it, like in red dead, skyrim, dead space, but on the other hand, if you're looking for something more abstract, there is so much more to be gained by not taking that path, just look at some of the most beautiful games that came out these past years, limbo, fly'n, journey, even minecraft has it's beauty (i insert the binding of Isaac here because i find it disturbingly beautiful), it all depends on one thing, and one thing only, the thing that should sell, and be a motive of pride for most games, the story, the environment, and not rely mostly on looks!
yeah, games are getting prettier but dumber, and they're just telling generic story after generic story, like action films from the 90's, bad guy does something bad, good guy wants his revenge, goes in for the kill, insert plot twist, bad guy dies, good guy gets the girl, the end.
just why did TWD scored GOTY? because of an incredible story, and even better storytelling, and it did so without showing you zombie guts in full HD!
