@RSM-HQ: If it's on GameSpot it must be true.
Oh wait, this is where I'm reading this.

The truth is that it's common for newer versions to make subtle changes even though they don't change overall specs. Could be a new generation of processor that used less power and generated less heat. Could be making minor fixes to problem areas identified in the first version hardware. Though I haven't looked up the article you mention, I can imagine it's possible that the report is true but in the end has no negative effect on performance or reliability.

@j3diknightdave: Yes, there were quite a few PS4 Pro special editions (and really limited!) that were very cool. The Red Spiderman, and Death Stranding black images on white one, Last of Us Part II with embossed graphics in monochrome dark grey metallic. Those were versions that tempted you to buy even if you already had a PS4 Pro. Worst case you get the new one and trade in the older 'vanilla' one. But now I regret ever trading in a PS2 or PS3 because those things are worth a fortune now!

EDIT remembered: God of War graphics medium grey PS4 Pro.

The 'cover available separately' thing just seems to cheapen it when it's a snap-on cover and you can buy it directly from Sony in the future (so it's an official one as opposed to the 'wraps' you buy online?).

Controller might be nice if I'm able to get one.

I don't get the hate -- this looks like a beautiful console to me. But anyway yes I understand that financially it may hard to justify if you are going to wait for PS5, at whatever price that comes out at.

This will definitely be collectible (as in "I really want to have one of those to keep and use," not as in "I want to buy and flip for $600")

Looks like BB already sold out. GS still had some for shipment as of an hour ago. Also, Target still has it up for pre-order (Target wasn't mentioned in the article, but if you are looking, that's another alternative -- plus the nice 5% off if you use RedCard.)

@Fish61324: "getting under EA's skin?" -- yes, but will we get in to their Board of Directors?

@acerimmer: I actually didn't know this (Bioware R.I.P.) and it is the saddest part of this saga.

@skippert: ++ to your last two sentences. Sums it up right there.

This is a "business model" and the "guys in suits" were chosen for that role, and have carried it out with devastating effect.

@sebb: Yep. I don't know if you mean to say "bad guy" or maybe you did mean "bag guy" who I assume would be the guy in the bank heist that's supposed to grab the bag of cash as they're running to the getaway car. Basically "the guy that actually takes all the money." Bad or Bag, either way, that is what EA is. It was tasked to be that by their management, and they have done a fine job of it, and only now are making this ludicrous claim of "why why why?"

@i_p_daily: I've gladly paid many times for good remasters of games I loved in the past (or maybe never completed) and want to experience again, in better resolution with better performance on better hardware. It's not a matter of the money to me but the principle and motivation behind it. When they re-do artwork, re-master soundtracks (in classic cases with the option to switch between original and new music), add the old DLC, sometimes add some new chapters or content, to me, it's worth it paying the full price of the original game again (or more), years later. This is often work done by the true artists who made the original game and it's good to support them.

That, however, is not what EA does, which is why we are all here today.

@jsprunk: I have been playing on a 12" iPad Pro and I have to say the graphics scale up very nicely even on the large screen. Enjoying everything except the chest monster.
