This is just semantics. Can games be a sport? Yes, no. It doesn't matter. The only reason the word "sport" is used is to legitimize it's existence for "normies". And now the dictionary definition of the word sport might change just because of this. Semantics change all the time.

So this argument is just the typical shit of "It used to be like this and should stay like this" vs. "It will be like this in the future and I already accept it". i.e progressives vs. conservatives *YAWN* who cares

I think it's a problem that people are so fixated on tearing down the other team they often refuse to see room for improvement in their own. Like some of the comments with the Switch App the other day - how anyone can pretend that is just great is beyond me. Here, we have Commander who is a strong XBox supporter (and presumably will continue to be) voicing a very specific concern that has certainly been echoed by others on the web, and fellow supporters want to turn on him for "stepping out of line". IMO, a good way to support your brand is to applaud its good moves, but also to push it to continue to improve, instead of...

Exactly. But this realization contradicts the whole point of this forum. The people who realize this leave eventually, the delusional ones stay, along with a few reasonable people who are just bored out of their minds and post out of habit (like myself).

I think it's just a reflection of the political absurdity going on in their markets. Primary market for xbox is dudebro country, doesn't matter how good it is as long as it's still good ol' xbawx.

@Juub1990: I agree. FPS matters more than resolution. That's why I'm disappointed some devs chased higher visual fidelity than 60fps on games for X1X. 4K isn't even the number 1 reason I'm most excited for the X1X

What I find weird is the shift of priorities since last generation. We saw almost every AAA game downscaling their rendering resolution to sub HD to maintain a decent framerate (COD did it to get 60 fps, but most games did it just to get 25 fps) Now they've decided to make their games look shittier but run at a resolution that most affordable screens don't even support...

My problem with the Havok engine was that the larger portion of the applications made objects in games feel unconvincing. It was a game feel problem and this includes Crackdown.

Objects felt weightless and unnatural. Cars, dumpster and people in Crackdown were affected by the engine in a way that made them feel like weightless Styrofoam l. Something like throwing a heavy object such as a dumpster at AI should feel punchy and impacting but it largely felt bouncy and unsatisfying.

Not to say there aren't good applications of it and it isn't a good engine but too often did it lead to some pretty cheap ragdoll physics and weightless objects. It's an old physics engine and one that has been surpassed. It is technically old.

It's just an engine, it facilitates physics simulation, but you can tell they put 0 effort in to changing values and tweaking things so it looks like every other 2009 game with physics... Except this one comes out in 2017.

It really has nothing to do with the tools they're using. It doesn't matter what platform they're developing it for. Management made bad decisions and rushed the game, because that's what happens on large scale projects like 70% of the time.

I would like to say that I wished these games had more time to cook but that doesn't make sense in a commercial industry. The few devs who maintain artistic integrity are also the ones that make the least money, USUALLY (there's always exceptions).

The animations lack a sense of weight... Looks very floaty and 2009-ish.

That's not a visual critique, animations are important for the gameplay to feel responsive and satisfying.

I used to care about graphics tbh, it took some time for me to realize that it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, with that being said, Artstyle is of high importance for me, your world should look vibrating and distinguished, making it last forever (Bayonetta is an 8-year old game but its artstyle keeps up), which Crackdown 3 is exactly the opposite, but still, I would've played it if the actual gameplay was compelling.

Same, in fact graphics used to be 100% of why I played games and I would often spend more time trying out tech demos than actual games when I switched to PC. Now I really want to switch back to console games and I'm mostly playing indie stuff. I've seen the light.

I was subscribed to Nintendo Power around the gamecube-DS era. Good times...

Nothing to see here but a simple contrarian.
