Is it just me, or did the graphics seem really really really... bad? The animations were bland, and glitchy too. I liked the 'Heat' shootout feel though, and the camera style. But the graphics, to me at least, seemed almost last-gen.

Point Lookout gets buggy in certain areas though. I think it's the buggiest of the DLC and might take a couple of restarts to get it straight.

Denji

My Point Lookout was alright, it was Operation Anchorage that I had to grit my teeth through :x and there were a few stutters through The Pitt which were particularly bad because I really enjoyed that one. But like I said, I don't know whether they'd have been like that if I'd had a go at them BEFORE Broken Steel started. Next time I play it I'm going leave the main quest until I've done everything else and see if it makes a difference.

Well I've got the GOTY and it ran perfectly, silky smooth until AFTER I finished the main questline, then its slowdowns and freezing and random crashes across the board. In fact, it got to a point where I found it pretty much unplayable so I've shelved it until I can be bothered to start a new game. Not saying this will happen to your copy though, only way to find out would be to try it!

Perhaps it's a problem with Broken Steel, because I had absolutely zero issues with it until I'd finished the main storyline and passed level 20 (although I passed level 20 first).

I want them to sort out their graphics engine, or at least do something about the crappy animations. TBH I can live with Oblivion / Fallout graphics, but the pathetic animations ruin the immersion. Your character doesn't so much walk as 'skates' along the surface of the world, it looks stupid.

And I want them to properly optimize it for PS3 this time, no buggy, unstable repeats of the graphically inferior Fallout port this time please.

Edit: Oh and they already had werewolves in, on the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind I believe. Don;t know if they were in the series previous though coz I haven't played any of the earlier games.

Meh, the game was running fine until I completed the main plotline (I just bought GOTY edition), I've since completed Operation Anchorage, visited Point Lookout, completed The Pitt, and now I'm collecting up all the bobbleheads I'd missed. But ever since finishing the main story quests the game has become unstable as... well, an unstable thing! Random frame rate drops, freezing for up to 30 seconds, and random crashes. It's actually become nigh on unplayable, which is annoying. I'm going to start a fresh game though, and see if it improves things although there's every chance once I finish the main questline it'll happen all over again.

Are you serious? Ignore Fallout 3, the Fallout series wins hands down on the merits of Fallout 1 and 2 alone. They offer you so much more freedom with character development than Oblivion or Morrowind. I know there's more to TES than those two, but so far everyone has compared TES to Fallout 3, which really doesn't do the series justice.

I mean, take Oblivion for example. You can make any sort of character you like, a Knight, a Wizard, a Monk, a wandering Scholar, but unless you make a character who is competent at combat, you're screwed. You CAN make a Scholar or Healer or a non-combat character, but he's going to get hurt. Badly.

In the original two Fallout games on PC, build any character you can dream of, and he can succeed at the game. If you want to make a fast-talking charismatic negotiating machine, he can get so much further than he would in Oblivion or Morrowind. The final boss in Fallout? I'm pretty sure that said character, focusing all his level-ups on charisma and whatnot could talk the final bad guy down without a shot being fired. That's proper freedom in character development.

I may be among the minority, but screw TES. I'd take old-school Fallout 1 over any RPG on the market today.

You know, I agree.

I understand that it's a popular franchise, hell I've owned most of them myself (had the most fun with the original on PC) and it's an enjoyable, easy to pick up game, but it annoys me that it's held up as the holy grail of FPS. It's just a well-polished arcade shooter with little to no depth.

I'm not saying its a bad series in general, I just don't like it.

I do believe that with the Challenge Room DLC pack, there is a new function called 'New Game+' which allows you to start a new game with all of the plasmids etc. accumulated on your last playthrough.

M0wen10

haha, yeah. He can contest with Arnold Schwarzenegger now. ;)

It looks so funny, like he's just going to burst out of that piddly little tee he's wearing, and Sheva and everyone else are about half the size.

No wonder his melee attacks are so brutal... like being hit by a freight train!
