Microsoft's problems with Xbox began during the middle of the life of the 360. That's when they tried to sell Kinect above all and a bunch of services that their costumers weren't interested in (thanks Don Matrick! -sarcasm).
After that, the problem increased because "Don" created the "Xbox one" to be precisely a console that mainly sells services and not games (I'm not denying that it has had good games, it's just nothing remotely close to the rest of the competition. ,both in quality and quantity).
Now with the Xbox series S/X, in my opinion, they started well, but they promised a lot and, in my opinion, they did not live up to expectations.
They clearly don't know how to change course or what their consumers are really looking for, which is easy, video games! I don't know how XBOX executives handle themselves but clearly they can't find a way to return to the days of the Xbox 360 in terms of popularity and sales, they simply can't find the formula and Gampass does not seem to be the goose that lays the golden eggs that they wanted it to be.
I read some comments saying things like "why Microsoft would invest so much money in buying companies." Simple, since they lack the creativity to create new and attractive IPs (which is always a risk), they will try to recover by taking over something already known. If this doesn't work, perhaps they will become third party or abandon the video game segment.
We'll have to wait and see what happens.
For my part, I think it is better that there is competition, but if Microsoft falls, someone will surely try to take its place.
