What is your favorite franchise of all time?

Has been my favorite since 1998 although as time goes by it may very well fade. But nothing quite compares the experience of playing the MGS games. Full of heart, great writing, great characters, story and gameplay. This is Kojima’s finest.

The Legend of Zelda

This is a hard choice but I got to go with Mortal Kombat from the nostalgic days at the arcade to the newer games. There has been some duds in the series but over all I just love the games. The 3D era was rough but ever since MK9 the series really has redeemed itself gameplay wise and the fatalities have been insane. Also the SP campaigns have been great and have become a high point of the franchise.

Probably Starwars think. Overall, there are a shit ton of Starwars games, hundreds, and enjoyed the majority of them with a few standouts.

Final fantasy followed by souls then zelda. I wouldnt be surprised if souls games are #1 soon.

FF. Square could release 5 straight bad FF I still have faith they can turn it around and be just as hyped for the next releases.

Probably go with Mario for the sheer number of excellent games. Honestly though could also go with any one of the following on any given day:

- The Legend of Zelda

- Final Fantasy

- Dragon Quest

- Chrono Trigger/Cross

- Xenogears/saga/blade

I don’t know that I have one. If the James Bond awesomeness had continued after Goldeneye 007, perhaps that would have been the case.

Same with Zero Escape. But the series is over with now that the third game concluded the series.

I refuse to answer. There are too many great franchises that are so different across various platforms throughout the years. I REFUSE to box myself in!!! But at least we can all agree that the Halo franchise is not part of the discussion.

Yeah, tough one. Probably Mario platformers for single player, Street Fighter for multiplayer. Both consistent with plenty of good/great games to their name. Even their weaker entries are better than most shit out there.

May the gaming gods forgive me, but....Assassin's Creed.

I think I like the Half-Life franchise more, but when you factor in value and time, Assassin's Creed edges it out and takes the win.

What can I say? I'm pragmatic.

*Then again, with all the free content, mods, and online experiences I've had through the HL franchise and associated games (Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike....plus the core games of HL 1, 2, expansions/episodes, and Alyx) I think maybe Half-Life might be my favorite.

The Last of Us, if it can be called a series. That would be the one that I say is closest to my heart. I was a big fan of Assassin's Creed for a long time too. I couldn't get into Valhalla, though, so that series might be dead to me.

I used to love Final Fantasy too. I hated XV, but I do hope that they'll figure it out. Maybe Tomb Raider.

Mortal Kombat, but ironically, I'm not much a fan of the violence. I mainly still enjoy it for the nostalgia and the lore.

Baldurs gate if that qualifies as a series? Two of the best games ever with two amazing expansions are hard to beat! And the third upcoming game has the potential to be, albeit very different, but just as amazing!

Other DQ and FF are also strong contenders!

Each and every mainline game is masterpiece. it has 5 main games and all 5 games are masterpiece. theres never been any series like that.

Warhammer/Warhammer 40,000. The games are a mixed bag, but bloody Hell I love the settings.

Strictly gaming franchises? Probably The Elder Scrolls... ...but only so long as the games are moddable. TES games without mods are merely okay; TES games with mods are masterpieces that you assemble yourself.

Why not? It's good.

Probably Zelda for me. When I play a new Zelda, I don't think I can be get more hooked on a videogame than that.

Final Fantasy

• While no longer the RPG top dog, it had a great run from FF3 to FF12... And it's been making a comeback with FF14 and FF7R.

There's plenty of shit I don't like about it, spoken at length about it before. When people call it a masterpiece I'm like wtf, HOW?

But there's a lot of good stuff in there too. Going for 100% was a drag, but had a better time with it on replays, just going straight for the good stuff.

Was really hoping for a direct sequel that trims the filler while adding more direct platforming challenges. My favorite set of mechanics in a Platformer, but definitely needed more sections that put them to great use.

@madrocketeer: Yeah the games are mostly meh, but holy hell I love 40k. I'm currently trying to get the top score on all the Kill Team levels. Got about 3/5 of them... some are clearly hacked, so I have to settle for 2nd.

I also love StarCraft, but that's basically 40k as well.

Diablo 2 is way up there as well.

@ghosts4ever: ohh doom is great, but also dumb. You just go around shooting and killing.

I will go with the resident evil franchise. I didn't like all of them, but re4 and re2 were fantastic. Re5 was fun. Re7 and re8, I haven't gotten around to but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

1. Zelda- Several of them are really high on my top favorite games list. BOTW is 1, Oot is 2, TP is 3, ALTTP is like top 20ish.

2. Ratchet and clank- My most beat franchise have beaten like 10 of them zelda I have beaten like 8. All the cool weapons the humor and the cool planets.

3. Tony hawk- several of them are in my top 10. Tony hawk 4 and and underground 2 both in top 10. Tony hawk 3 and underground 1 like top 20. Spent so so much of my teenage years playing these.

4. batman arkham- Great combat, great soundtracks. Knight is my 3rd favorite game of all time. City is 5th and origins is just out side of top 10 at 11. Asylum like 25th or so.

5. DK- DK 2 still the best platform ever made, DKCTF a close second both in my top 10 games list. Returns is sold even if not has high has the other 2. DK 1 and 3 are fun. Always really good soundtracks.
