The Original EU was more fun precisely because it wasn't over protective and had no problem having fun with Star Wars. With all the alternate time lines Legends had fun exploring, it could even easily accommodate the Disney Canon, the reverse isn't true. Disney is just too rigid for it. It'll either eventually break them, or suck all the life out of the franchise.
Oh come on, you couldn't violate canon any worse than Disney did by trashing decades of it so they could make a scavenge bits off it to make a A New Hope clone with.
