I mean 80% of the people involved in developing a game, any game, could have done a better job at their job resulting in a better game. Unfortunately they didn't, and their slacking off has resulted in mediocre options for us gamers.

Is this post that difficult to figure out... the games being released today are simply old models retuned, repackaged, and resold to us... there is no creativity. In addition the developers are not using the technology to its full potential.

There are those of you that are arguing I'm hard to please... spare me... what I am is irritated that nothing truly "new" has come out in the last 6 months. There is a large enough consumer base to support stronger releases than what we are currently seeing.

For those of you that don't think my post is worth the time reading or commenting on... I 'm sure you're the same small minded gamers that enjoy the identical games we see released time and time again, and are probably not mature enough to understand my point.

I am not trying to out any one game or one flaw... there are too many, and I do not expect every game that is released to be flawless. My point is right now the games being released are subpar, and until we speak up we're not going to get anything better. Sure there will be the occasional gem, but the majority will be junk.

As for the 80/20 rule... generally speaking if you have 20% accounting for the majority of the work, than 80% are slacking off. I have applied it appropriately for the purpose of my argument. As in physics, for every reaction there is an equal an opposite reaction, so to is business. You're looking at the glass as half full with 20% production... I'm seeing the other side in which the glass is half empty and it's 80% that have resulted in this deficiency.

To digress. the point of this post is to encourage gamers to voice their opposition against the newly released games we are currently seeing. If you're fine with the new selection then clearly you have bad taste. We as a gaming community deserve better. Tell everyone what you expect, and believe it or not you might actually see it... this is a captialist society after all. Supply will follow demand.

Is anyone else incredibly disappointed with the new games being released these days? Does anyone else think there has been a fundamental breakdown between gamers and developers? Wouldn't you like to see more original titles and less sequels and prequels?

It is my opinion that the games being released these days are pathetic, and the we have the developers to blame. This post will present the argument and evidence that supports my claim, as well as what needs to change to recapture the heart of videogamers around the world.

It is no mystery why video game sales are down. The video games being produced now and those set to be released in the near future are remakes of games we have played that do not maximize current technology and have simple and little to no replay value. If they have an online mode, you had better hope the game has some followers, the server is decent and maintained, and regular patches are released - if not, it's not much of an online game, and will be shelved quickly by most making it even harder to get into a good game if you're committed. The people responsible for this epic failure, game developers.

Now let me be clear I am using the term"game developers" very broadly. I'm talking about the company responsible for the title, the story writers, the technology behind the game, the coding, the graphics and sound... basically we can use the 80/20 rule. Read the credits of any game, and I am under the impression that 80% of those people failed at their job in one way or another.

I can understand why developers follow the formula they follow... if you produce too good a game, a game with replay value, then you limit the potential future demand for new future games. I'm staring at a shelf of 40+ games, and nothing stands out as entertaining right now for this simple reason. Limited replay value. Of my 40+ games, about 15 or so are showing in 1080p. Most games released are in 720p. Can you please explain this to me. If you have a system that touts 1080p, why aren't you making all the games in 1080p? Instead, you move toward 3D technology wihich the vast majority of us do not have (although we do have 1080p)! Hmmm. So now we will have games that will use a portion of their memory on technology that most of us do not have, which will result in a shorter and reduced game (reduced because the game will be focused on 3D technology not the actual game).

I'm looking for something new. Something beautiful. Something with replay value, and solid online content without lag and solid support. Gamers around the world are waiting for this... look at the future title list and there is literally nothing that I find intriguing. Why? Because I already own all those games. Give us something new. Something bold. Exciting. Surprising. Glorious. And fantastic. I assure you you will win the hearts and pocket books of gamers.

Instead of selling title - sell developer... make a name for yourselves not the game franchise. If you do this and create a game that truly maximizes our systems and preforms beyond imagination you will win the hearts, minds and pocket books of us all. Accomplish this, and in the future, you can sell your creative ability instead of a past title which will never live up to expectations.

In the meantime I'm a sidelined buyer.
