Just hoping it's done right (whatever that means). Looking forward to this game.

I'm very tempted to get one of these. At least at $99 it won't hurt me in the wallet too much, so it seems pretty low risk to me. I like the idea of supporting something that is trying to get off the ground. If there are no adopters, then sure, it's not going to go anywhere. Granted, some people in the gaming community might be turned off by some of its features or its funny controller or whatever, but then again based on what I've seen, I actually like the look of some of the games that they offer. I think I saw a couple of soccer titles that look really fun.

I bought the original Kinect when I bought my Xbox 360 Slim bundle two or three years ago. To be honest, I don't think the thing is *that* horrible. It can be pretty fun in certain situations. Sports is one example, and a game like Kinect Adventures is another ... my niece and nephew love playing that. I enjoy playing Brunswick Pro Bowling with it. The original Kinect wasn't perfect ... sometimes the interaction with it is a little twitchy. But I just think if developers put it to good use, there's a lot of potential there. What I'm really looking forward to is a serious Tiger Woods-style golf sim that uses the Kinect. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. I don't know if I'm going to get an Xbox One at launch ... I might wait a while. Although I'm not opposed to the console, I feel like $500 is a bit much for an impulse buy.

So in a nutshell, let's summarize:

1. Although there may have been some good ideas in Microsoft's original plan, too many gamers would have been inconvenienced by the 24-hour check-in and the inability to trade/swap physical discs.

2. It's possible that if Microsoft simply designed a hybrid machine, where the user can opt in to the new policies if they want or use their console in the traditional way instead, the new vision may have been more accepted and people could have gotten used to the idea gradually.

3. Although it was forward-leaning, Microsoft proposed too many radical changes, too soon, to a market that wasn't ready, and did a bad job of communicating it.

Am I basically right? For what it's worth, although I thought the original plan was a bit scary, I'm not sure if it would have affected me too negatively based on how I personally use consoles. But I accept whatever changes have been made for the benefit of the gaming community and its needs.
