Actually they haven't; the publisher (Ubisoft) hired other, unrelated developers to make Far Cry's console versions. Crysis 2 will be Crytek's first console title.

I didn't know that. Anyway, again.......that doesn't mean not making a multiplatform game should make a company taken any less serious than another.

 The epic guy said that you cant take them serious because they have not made a console game before or developed in crossplatform. Makes perfect sense. Everyone outhere is developing console multiplats easilly, crytek is new at it. Proof? Ign said that the game does not control well on consoles. Thats definitive proof that they dont have any console fps development skills.

This is typical. Your making assumptions about a game that isn't even out yet based on a report from beta stage gameplay

[QUOTE="monkey_muffin"][QUOTE="savagetwinkie"] not as much as piracy, 1 copy is paid for and only 1 person can play it period, piracy 0 copies are paid for and thousands of people can play it is it really the same thing?savagetwinkie
1 copy pirated to 3 million times = 3 million sales not going to the dev or publisher. 3 million copies of a used game in all the gamestops in the world is just as bad. That equals 3 million that aren't paying devs or publishers.

but in the piracy case 1 person bought a copy, in used sales 3 million bought a copy, there can't be 3 million used copies if 3 million people didn't buy a copy to begin with.

The. Loss. Of. Sales. Is. The. Same.

Unreal engine has made propably the 90% of games we see today if not more. Now why the hell crytek has to jump in and spout random crap like that, or 3d, or how their alpha looks better than killzone 2, misses me. I am really starting to get the feeling, they are not advertizing crysis 2 to gamers but their precious freaking engine to gamedevelopers. Seriously, they battling like kids on who has the best freaking engine, "no mine is better" Shut up, they all suck. jeez  But that epic guy is right about something, crytek has not made a multiplat game yet, they need to prove that to be taken seriously.dakan45
So unless you make a multiplatform game you can't be taken seriously? Besides Far Cry was a multiplatform game.

LOL, no it wasnt, the xbox far cry games were made completly diffirently. They did not release it at the same time as far cry, its a completly diffirent game.

Well, it might not be the same game, but they at least have made games for the console before. You were acting like they don't know what they're doing.Anyway my point still stands.....you don't have to make a multiplatform game to be taken seriously.

Yet the Unreal Engine has far better development tools, is much more versatile and easier to develop for. Crytek, what the hell is happening to you?skrat_01
How do you know that when the CryEngine isn't even out yet?

[QUOTE="MajorGamer531"]

Consoles will always be a great alternative who arenot fluent with PCs. Your average joe doesn't have expertise beyond e-mail, word processors, and an internet browser and this:

Intimidates him/her. They would however be surprised how simple hooking up a PC is with the motherboard manual and connectors that will generally only fit the right place to be plugged in.

NEStorianPriest

For the love of Pete! Really? You know, these "console gamers are too lazy/dumb to use a computer" arguments really are proof that you just don't have any ammunition. Can any PC gamer admit that there are console gamers who actually prefer console games to PC games without hiding behind a bunch of elitist BS?

This is the second time you misread a post. He said "...who arenot fluent with PCs. Your average joe..." Did he say ALL console gamers? No.

[QUOTE="Adam_the_Nerd"]Unreal Engine 3 sucks. Texture pop-in several iterations later? Laggy, unoptimized gameplay even on consoles? Give me a break. I miss Unreal Engine 2. soapandbubbles
the UE3 is garbage...iron out the issue of textures/lag and we can talk. Would be nice if devs could licence the cryengine.

I don't see how the UE3 engine is crap. It looks and plays great on my PC.
