@Total_mischief @minerl99 They will make the changes I described. It will make the new Xbox chief look like a hero and it will come at a time when Microsoft needs a boost before launch.

Then Sony will need to fall back on the games and it will be... game on.

@Mr_Big_Boss @minerl99 Xbox Live has competition too. Physical versions, Sony, Nintendo, PC's. Businesses need profits and you need to balance pricing with demand. You already see lower prices on Live games, you just haven't looked hard enough.

And you are seeing free digital games too. Think about why the free games aren't on shelves at Gamestop.... It's because digital is cheaper to distribute.

Gamers keep giving money to Gamestop. Over $1 billion dollars, that didn't go to Capcom and other developers, who make games we love.

It's time for Gamestop to go the way of Blockbuster, but gamers aren't that bright, so they are fighting it.

Microsoft will fix it by having dual policies. One for digital. One for physical and the physical disk gamers will one by one figure out digital is better for them.

It just takes some people longer to figure it out than others. That and schools out for the summer.... ;-)

Sony fans jaws will drop when Microsoft announces they are bringing back the digital policies and leaving the physical disk policies as they are now. It's the best of both worlds. They just need to change their software, so it can tell the difference between a digital game and physical game.

Physical games will need to be in the drive. Digital will not and will have the family plan, rental capabilities, sharing etc. Steam, but even better. I just bought Half Life 2 for $2.49 on Steam and Team Fortress 2 for free. Digital is the future.

The new windows chief Julie Larson-Green will look like a hero announcing it. Sony Fanboy's will be stunned.

@deadpeasant Luckily for Sony, they are a not for profit organization donating all of their profits to the homeless.

Microsoft's biggest mistakes have been to underestimate the average IQ of console gamers, the media's interest is stoking a fire burning inside kids out of school for the summer and how passionate people wearing tin foil hats can be.

Microsoft is already working to change the software to allow the checkin policy for digital games to change from 24 hours to prior to play just like Steam. This will allow them to give digital gamers the advantages of checkin anywhere, family plan, sharing and used digital game sales. Physical game sales will remain the same.

This separation of policies for digital and physical game sales will allow old school physical (I love Gamestop) console gamers to coexist with Steam type digital gamers. Of course some gamers will do a little of both. Best of both worlds.

This announcement by the new Xbox Live leader will annoy the heck out of Sony fanboys. I believe it will be announced prior to launch. Enjoy.
