Great video. I very much agree.

I am 31 and I have the hardest of time staying focused on many new games. While I could play the Original XCOM, Sim City 1, Civ 1, Syndicate, Duke Nukem 3D and others for hours and hours, I find myself not being able to stay focused for more than a few hours on new releases.

Part of the problem is exactly what you are explaining in this video. A lack of something really new and exciting that we have not seen before.

But, let's also face the reality. Getting around 30 and up, you have more responsibilities, kids, wives, big jobs and so, less time for gaming. The few hours I can spare to game, I want to make sure they are not meaningless. I want to learn (Transport Tycoon), to fear (RE 1/RE 2), to be really excited (Xenogears), to laugh until I cannot breath (Bomberman 64 in multiplayer), even to cry (To the Moon).

Playing and shooting around with teenagers talking crap into their microphone has absolutely no exciting value for me.

Guess I'm getting old.
