This doesn't make sense to me. You'd think D&D needed him MORE because they didn't have actual source material to go on. It's possible they are just arrogant sods, but it seems to me the more likely explanation is Martin was too busy doing whatever is also keeping him from finishing Winds of Winter. D&D may have messed a lot up - but they did love the source material and probably wanted to do right by it.

@daidochus: I tend to buy all platforms so I don't consider myself particularly loyal to one over the other, but it's pretty clear to me that Nintendo has driven way more innovation than other platforms in the last 20 years. Sony and MSFT innovate on performance, but that's incremental to me.

I've also never found it productive to get fussy about fan bases - every fan base has obnoxious outspoken people that we can get mad at. In the end, it doesn't really impact my own experience with a platform.

I don't know their plan, but I think it makes sense that they would take a breather after Endgame on everything being connected. That was a magnificent culmination, you can't just do the same thing again. I do hope they'll go back to the interconnectedness, but they can take their time.

Shareholder lawsuits like this happen every time stocks get walloped for sharing bad news. Law firms fight for the right to represent the shareholders and they are the only ones that see a dime even when there's a settlement. Investment involves risk, and sometimes those risks don't pan out.

I remember being so excited for AC3 and the conclusion of the story and thinking it was absolutely wretched. Haven't cared about the present day story since then.

@BeefoTheBold: I agree. I thought JFO was great as a way of proving "we can still do (and sell) a good single player narrative driven Star Wars game," now they can do something fresh.

@godofheck42: Gaming message boards, on the other hand, have stayed exactly the same: sooooo many dudes victim signaling whenever the status quo is challenged.

I think you saw "female protagonist idea" and then stopped reading. The author makes some interesting points. Regardless, I'd like to think we can agree that mixing up the "play as a Jedi" formula is a good idea.

I think you mean overstated.

@jcwainc: I haven't played it yet, so I don't have an opinion on it, but I do know it has achieved acclaim across the gaming industry. So Gamespot picking it as GotY is certainly not shocking, let alone Internet breaking.
