@fireandcarnage I don't know about you, but personally I find it conflicting that people think 1.6M is pocket change and doesn't really amount to much for EA (so if they really want to spend on charity they should spend more?) but at the same time they should spend less on charity (or non at all?) and focus these funds on their games instead.
I don't think EA can do both at the same time and I suspect they're still going to get bashed unreasonably regardless of which they choose to do.
PR stunt or not, at the end of the day the money went to a good cause and will help save lives, in my opinion that's all that matters.
I dislike EA a lot and I don't trust their policies, but I keep wondering, if hating EA is so mainstream and common why are they still successful? Why do people still buy their games? Most of the hate comments directed at EA are from people who've recently bought a game from them and are angry that their game is glitchy or over hyped.
If you hate EA THAT much then stop buying their games, or if you really like EA games then stop pretending that you hate them. I can't believe some people would rather bash EA even when they legitimately donated to a good cause just because it's the "hip" thing to do or because your new game isn't as good as you expected.
But publishers still DO exert some pressure on gaming websites and reviewers sometimes, don't they? They don't have to directly hand out cash to do it. Quite the opposite, if they receive bad reviews from a particular website they can stop sending out pre-launch review copies of the game, thus that website loses any advantage it could have of publishing an early review and getting all the web traffic before the game releases.
I don't know if this ever happened to Gamespot but I'm sure it happened to another website. I can't remember which one though.
PC, 3DS, PSVita and GameStick for me. Screw mainstream consoles this generation, I don't trust neither PS4 nor XOne.
Btw, as interesting as this video is, some trolls are going to use this as a reference to point out console bias whenever they see a review they don't like. So probably bad idea.
