As always Carolyn's review is exactly what I expect: the best out there. She always sees what the other BS websites overlook and always demands something from the game than the usual functional things.
Where's the character TRUE depth? Does it have any or it's just forced (both Lara Croft and Kratos in their last game)?
Is the story another forced video game drama (Dishonored, I Am Alive) or it is a true original story (Gone Home, The Swapper)?
Is the game true art (Thirty Flights of Loving) or forced art (a little of Bioshock, indies' minimalist visuals)?
Is the gameplay really functional and it is fitting to the game's purpose (Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons, Thomas Was Alone, The Swapper) or it's just another multi task game that tries to do everything and does nothing good (Dead Island, Crysis)
She is the no.1 game critic IMHO nowadays. And I bet she was as pissed off and disgusted as I was that Gone Home wasn't the Game of the Year.
Steam expects the best out of gamers and the best is what they get. I am allowed to install my Steam in any computer I want and let my friends play it, but I don't. Anyone can do this, wherever and whenever they feel like it, but I've never heard of anyone who has actually done it.
Steam sells indiscriminately cheap games, sometimes so cheap you wonder there's something wrong with it and they still make more money than any company, because they RESPECT the costumer and give them the best support, the best interface and the best design in game history (not to mention the best games out there: HL, Portal, Dota, TF2, LFD, etc)
Steam allows users to cuss and swear when people are commenting on Forums but rarely anyone does.
If you expect the best, the best is what you get. Even Jesus stated that.
Microsoft shit on their costumers. Sony has those annoying and stupid Online Pass that makes me wanna puke (I stopped years of PS3 because of this). We also had to deal for years with Live - Games For Windows, which was embarrassingly bad. Ubisoft makes you login on Uplay, which is whoreshit. I don't even need to mention EA here, the most corrupt, evil and greedy company in existence.
Steam is like Netflix. Cheap, but still the best. That's why both are taking over the market.
I'm a teacher and I teach a lot of kids. If you treat them like indisciplined brats, then that's what you get in your classroom. Treat them like small adults with respect and that's what you get.
People are not going to troll, because Steam doesn't expect it to happen. They expect the best of us. They treat us like adults.
Because, in the end, it's OUR problem if we troll.
Gone Home is easily, by far far, the best game of this year. GS, IF YOU GUYS DON'T GIVE THIS AWARD TO GONE HOME, YOU'LL LOSE MY RESPECT. AAA games are those movies where you take your fat girl to cuddle in the cinema. Gone Home is that movie that shouts art and you can't help it but feel truly touched and almost feel you know the characters personally.
Gone Home makes a great and distinguished game like The Last of Us seems like it was written by a virgin adolescent. But, hey, of course gamers here hate it, they're too busy counting hours of gameplay to rate a game.
@TrueNone13 @Darkhearted91 Are you serious?? You're explaining the plot to me? Me, who has finished all AC games and one portable (Bloodlines)? Me, who has read the comics? I'm not a fanboy, just like the franchise, not my favorite franchise, but I think EVERYONE is nitpicking here. This is a great franchise, period. AC3 was kind of weaker, but a colossal great game. AC4 will probably be better. Now enough you guys! Stop trying to have something to say. AC is being criticized because our expectations are always too high for this franchise, which is a testament of its quality.
Now, excuse me, I was playing Metro Last Light with my girlfriend, my favorite franchise and THIS ONE nobody disagrees is a masterpiece. No offenses buddies, I just think everyone is acting like nitpicking trolls. Later.
