My friend, you dont need anything for playing if you are planing to buy original games.

That is all I can say to you cause discussing about dongles, custom firmware, pirating games is not allowed here.

Guys, I'm planning on buying a PS3 but before I do I want to get as much information about it as I can. XBOX360 is great, been using it for the past five years. But I also wanted to try out PS3 exclusives like Resistance, Killzone, Gran Turismo among others. How often does the console have to be updated? When the update is loaded, will I still be able to play old titles? What exactly is the dongle used for? BTW, Im from Manila, Philippines. In one retail store, I was told that for me to be able to play new titles, I have to have the dongle. is this true? Kind of like the xbox, firmware had to be updated before I can play BF3 and MW3. Can anyone tell me everything there is to know about the system? Could really use some help here. Thanks.papibruno

Well I bought new BF3 from UK and when I tried to put online pass on my US PSN account it didn't work ( said it is invalid or something ).

When I used Croatian account ( where I'm from ) it worked. So the pass can only be used with PSN account of the same region like the game. In my case Europe.

Same thing is with DLC. In the in game store there was no back to karkand map pack on US PSN account but there was on Croatian PSN account.

Look at the back of the game case for what region is the game intended to be sold. My was for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Oceania.

So You must use PSN account for the region where the game is intended to be sold for DLC and online passes.

Games can be played on any PS3 no meter where is bought.

It would be better that all the effort Sony invested in Vita was directed to making PS4.
