eanbowman: For me - it's more than just this article. It just seems every article, poll, viewpoint they have put forth in the last month or two has been badly slanted. I could be wrong. This story just reeks of sensationalism (to me at least). Everybody knows that it takes longer to load a disc than a cartridge. It was noted when the system came out. And, obviously, there are games that don't do a good job. I think the focus should be on the individual games having the problem, not the console as a whole (because I think that's been covered). Again, to me, it would be like putting up a story that shows comparisons of the psp's graphics to the ds, or the fact that the psp doesn't have a touch screen. I own a psp and knew what i was getting into when I bought one. That being said, it hasn't been an "issue" with any game I've owned (maybe I've just chosen wisely, as I don't have any of the worst offenders mentioned). The load times really don't seem to be significantly longer than ps2 or xbox games (that read from a cd). The comparison to other handhelds in the article is what really goes over the edge (imo) as those don't read from discs. I understand the point you're making, load times can be an issue for some, but, c'mon, a "FEATURE" article on the load times for a system that's been out for 2 years? Doesn't that seem a little odd?
Eanbowan - I am a pretty frequent gamer, and I own a PSP, and the load times are longer, but nothing to write a story about. And yes, they "game" a lot more - but isn't this site supposed to cater towards the customer, not the "video game reviewers"? They're making a story where a simple "load times on the ps3 are longer" would have sufficed (and have, up until this point). The staff at Gamespot likely play a lot more games than you do. They are inundated with games every day, and like anyone who might come to use a Playstation 2 or a PSP, they are BOUND to be annoyed by the horrible load times. Man, I'm far from a Sony fanboy - almost all my favorite games have been on XBOX (see gamer profile) - but the constant bashing of Sony on this site is getting ridiculous. It's one thing to comment on news items - but they are going out and trying to bring up bad things about sony products now. It's getting to the point now where i just expect them to say bad things about sony products and games, and take it with a grain of salt. The Fox News of Video Game site's, indeed.
