Vaan decides to do a little shopping and purchases some Genji Gloves and equips them.

Oh these feel awesome.. who to attack...hmmm...

He remembers being lit on fire and decides it is time for pay back

He wanders into Team Death Machines camp. Sure they look really beat down and soggy but Vaan still remembers being burned and this makes him furious:evil:.

"So it was funny to set me on fire huh?" he yells at the top of his lungs. Looking at how soggy they are, gives Vaan an idea. They should be dried off he thinks. He decides it is time for a Pyro attack. He's had enough of being burned and having his team mates attacked.

The battle field sudden has a huge flash of light.

Nel and Balthier run to the Team Death Machine camp to find nothing but Vaan and a huge pile of ash.

Nel goes to Vaan and asks "what happened here?"

Vaan looks at Nel grinning evily, "just a little pay back Nel. A little pay back. You know I don't like the burning feeling"

Vaan really feels for Freya :( Vol 17 is an excellent issue of Tsubasa and wishes she could read it.

"Oh duh!, I have that issue"

He lets Freya read his copy while she waits and thanks her for the gil.

He sits to count the gil and decide what to spend it on later....

Back at camp, Vaan decides to make a nice meal to raise his own spirits after a really awful day.

He goes all out and makes an huge 7 course meal and lays it all out on a long table.

Vaan then walks into the tent to tell Nel and Balthier that dinner is ready.

Both walk out and their jaws drop at the shear amount and types of foods presented.

After an hour, the table is mostly empty.

Nel looks at Vaan and states, "Vaan that was quite the meal... Thanks!"

Balthier also adds his praise for the meal.

"Thanks" say Vaan as he starts to clean up quietly.

At least the awful day is over and his teammates seem much improved, Vaan thinks to himself.

Vaan was peacefully dreaming... of pie? What on earth???

He wakes with a start to find his face covered in whipped cream. Looking over at Balthier and also seeing his face covered in whipped cream, Vaan knows exactly who is to blame... Nel...

Deciding that Balthier needs rest for tomorrows action, he leaves him sleeping and washes up.

He walks outside the tent and sits down. He is mad but also found the sight of Balthier's face covered in whipped cream kinda funny. :lol:

Should he get even with Nel or not.. hmmm....

While he sits there thinking, Nel wanders back into camp.

"So Vaan, did you like the whipped cream?" she asks with a smile.

Vaan looks up at her "I stand around the battlefield all day and finally find some gil and you do that?" he says glaring at her.

Nel shrugs and wanders off. Vaan gives up and decides that maybe he should forgive and make something to eat.

He discovers that he has quite a bit of sugar. Hmmmm a sweet snack would be nice. "How about some caramels?" he thinks and he starts making them.

He divides up the batch and starts to make them into bit sized pieces. He also grabs some whipped cream.

He brings these over to the fire and offer them to Balthier first as he sits glaring at Nel.

"These are really good Vaan!" Balthier mumbles with 4 pieces in his mouth.

"I'm glad you like them" Vaan beams back while eating his.

Nel looks at Vaan, "Where is my desert?"

Vaan hands Nel and empty plate. She looks at him confused. "Just wait one second" he say while placing one caramel on the plate and covering it in whipped cream. "There you go Nel" he says standing over her eating his caramels.

Nel looks at Vaan confused. Balthier sneaks up behind her and flicks the plate into her face and the caramel lands nicely in her mouth while covering her face with whipped cream.

Vaan and Balthier start rolling with laughter.

Nel is obviously not amused. Feeling kinda bad (only kinda) Vaan share his caramels with the whipped cream covered Nel and everyone start to laugh feeling much better in the process.

Vaan is also tired but happens to be walking through the arena when he sees the gil and grabs it!

Vaan sees the drop from Freya and quickly grabs it!

Now.. who should Vaan attack... so many choices.

Looking around the arena, Vaan starts to walk around to the different camps.

He stops at the Team Mortifiers camp. Vaan feels sorry for the shape that Team Mortifiers is in and takes pity on them and walks on.

He sees Team Death Machines camp and remembers the damage that was recently caused to his own base camp by them.

"Hmmmm.... this camp looks way too tidy" Vaan thinks to himself. "Definitely needs a little more anarchy" he thinks grinning evilly.

Pulling out his trusty sword again, Vaan does a little... hmmm... redecorating :P ... and heads back to camp.

Nel notices Vaan's evil grin.

"So.. it looks like someone had some fun today!" she says smiling at him.

Vaan looks at Nel with a huge smile on his face.

Nel laughs, "That smile says it all!"

Vaan decides he should try to invent something even flasher so he gets up to setup a mini workshop.

Nel walks over and asks if she could help out.

"After all, Vaan, I do have a lot of experience in these things" says Nel

The 2 work quickly to set things up.

"Thanks Nel" Vaan says with a smile when they finish.

"Anytime, Vaan. May not be as big as mine but it is pretty nice" Nel says while looking around. "Can't wait to see what you invent"

Vaan start working....

*loud noise can be heard*

Balthier looks at Nel and asks "Do you think it was a good idea to let Vaan invent?"

Nel shrugs "Why not? Never know what might happen?"

Vaan comes running towards them yelling with a big grin "i did it! The Ultimate Weapon in a flask!"

Vaan missed that there is a large rock in the path and trips and falls sending the flask flying. The flasks lands on the ground but instead of an explosion, only a pleasant odor occurs making all 3 feel better immediately.

"Some ultimate weapon" Vaan says sadly.

"Well it was a good invention Vaan." says Nel chuckling "was just an ultimate healing potion instead"

After Nel walks off to clean up or whatever she does when left alone, Vaan decides that maybe a little party is in order.

Vaan can tell that Balthier is still angry from Nel's comments on Fran so decides not to ask for help.

He decides to cook again since Freya had said his cooking was improving so much. Now he just needed to decide what to make. Yes they might have an extra 500 gil but there were better items to buy than food.

Vaan looks around to see what he could make. Looking up, Vaan sees a rabbit wander into camp.

"hmmm... Balthier may not like this since hes thinking about Fran... but rabbit stew sounds good" Vaan says under his breath. The rabbit was an easy kill and Vaan started the stew.

A while later, all 3 are sitting around the fire enjoying Vaan's stew.

"This is really good Vaan. I feel much stronger after that stew" says Nel

Balthier finishes his 3rd bowl and looks at Vaan. "Vaan, this was good. You are a good cook. What was in it?"

Vaan realizes that things are going to get interesting when he replies. "oh.. just some veggies and a rabbit that I caught" he replies.

Nel starts to chuckle and gives Vaan a big smile.

Balthier stands and states that he should patrol the camp while giving Vaan a dirty look.

"Fine.. Fine... I'll do my attack. Stop giving me that look" says Vaan and he walks out of camp under the stares of Balthier and Nel.

He stops just outside of camp where he can't be seen and sits to start thinking....

Balthier used major explosives and Nel used a flashy ice attack. Not wanting to be upstaged, he needed to come up with something of his own and started to think.

.....

.....

Forget it, Vaan says to himself, they can be flashy all they want but nothing beats getting down and dirty!

With a huge battle yell, Vaan storms the Team Death Machine camp and slices anything and everything with his trusty sword.

Looking over the damage, Vaan quietly smiles to himself and strolls back to base camp.

Still wearing the wry smile, Nel and Balthier looks at him oddly.

"Now just what have you been up to Vaan?" asks Nel.

Vaan just grins wider and says, "Oh, you'll see!"
