While I appreciate your effort to sort of "neutralize" this whole debate, that we shouldn't be so quick to create antagonism, this just masks the problems. It IS a political problem, it IS conflict with two sides. The horrible examples of abuse the developer of depression quest has to suffer is a direct consequence of a heteronormative ideology - which can be seen in the mario/princess tropes, or in the inherent misogyny in GTA5 etc etc. But this doesn't neccessarily mean that the developers of GTA or mario can be held responsible for abuse, they are simply part of an ideology, like ALL of us - and that is exactly why we have to fight that ideology, by high-lighting whereever it shows its ugly face, so we can be more aware of it ,and thus try to change it.
