No one CARES if the games they like are old. People enjoy them because they're fun, and if they're fun 20-30 years after they're made then clearly that's a sign of high-quality, and it's NOT something to be ashamed of. It's not WHEN a game came out that matters but how good it is.
I'm so tired of hearing people like the writer condemning others for not dropping everything that holds meaning and bandwagoning onto the latest trend like some obnoxious trendy-pop Bieber fan every five goddamned seconds. No one's trapped or stuck in some rut because they prefer things from the past, no one's doing anything wrong, so just stop it.
@o016945 @kiteinthesky It just doesn't have the same charm as the old marketing games like Cool Spot had -- not that most of the marketing games released back then were any good. I liked Cool Spot. But Cool Spot seemed more like its own quirky little game than a 7up advertisement for all of the product placement they put in that thing. This... just reminds me of those spammy Flash ads you used to see on Newgrounds. It just doesn't sit well with me.
Why not have the game take place in another time period but keep the same trope formula? It doesn't have to be anything outlandish like Zelda In Space! (tm), but some steampunk elements like Final Fantasy would be nice. It's boring to play in the same old Lord of the Rings ripoff setting over and over again.
No indie devs for the Wii U? No wonder people are complaining about the lack of games for the Wii U. :/ I just hope Smash 4 doesn't turn out to be a disappointment.
