I can't explain how much I disagree with this review. I've played many RPG's over the course of my life, and was finally able to get my hands on this game-being $1 on Psn. First off, I hated the first game. It didn't appeal to me in any way, especially visually. I stopped playing it way before trying the sequel, and this one blew me away. The quality in this game is much higher than the first, including graphics, music, and the overworld. I love how Wild Arms 2 let's you explore and uncover towns by yourself instead of having areas sit right in front of your face. This way you'll actually have to pay attention to what the characters tell you. It makes you feel like you're exploring, while not letting you get lost without exact locations. The look of the game is visually appealing, with great looking sprites and detailed environments. The camera and movement of the game are spot on-as long as you're able to assign the D-pad to an analog stick... The puzzles are wonderful, the characters seem to have decent dialogue and personalities, and even the story isn't too bad. It's a bit cliche, but there's enough in this game to make it very unique. The battle is mostly like the first, where animations aren't a top priority. The FP system makes it fairly easy, but takes a lot of stress out. Using items to restore FP would've made the experience less enjoyable for me. Overall, I've loved the time I spent with this game. Maybe it's because I didn't care about the first, but whatever the case, I can't imagine how you could give this game anything below a six-that's just unfair. It's a gem to me, and I hope to explore it more in my next play through.
