Hey guys,

There's this game that I've been wondering about for a few years now. I remember playing it on the PC back in the early-mid '90s (I'm pretty sure it was a DOS game). As far as gameplay and graphics go, it resembled the early Final Fantasy games although I don't think it was specifically a Final Fantasy game. I only remember that after dying (I forget if it was after all your characters die or maybe you just can't resurrect individual characters when they die) your character could resurrect as an undead/stronger character and would continue on like that.

I think I might check this out since it still looks promising. As people have said, IGN is not the final word and just because their reviewers didn't like it doesn't mean you won't.

That said, I'd like to see Sega make use of WiiWare and take Sonic back to his roots. It was a working formula for the original games so I don't see why it couldn't work now. I've heard good things about Megaman 9. It'd also be easier for them to focus on gameplay and level design if they didn't have to worry about making insane visuals, and things would get done that much faster.

Now, about the comments as far as graphics being sought out over gameplay. It's about the environment and not the graphics. I never said I wanted a graphical marvel. If you look at the remake of FF4, I wouldn't say the graphics are so awe-inspiring that they break records on the DS. The only thing is that the transition from 2D to 3D makes the world that much richer, regardless of how much added detail they put into it. And my main quarrel is that they aren't using the DS the way it was meant to be used and are basically porting a GBA-quality game to a much more capable handheld.

Is anyone else saddened by the disappointment that is Chrono Trigger DS? They're releasing a 16-bit game on a system that is capable of more technologically than the Nintendo 64 was. This game belongs on either the virtual console or as a GBA port (both of which would be sold cheaper, which is the only reason it's being released as a DS game).

Square needs to get their act together and do up a proper remake. I was extremely impressed by the release of FF3 and their remake of FF4. Regardless of detail, going from 2D to 3D is a big jump and something that should have been considered for the Chrono Trigger remake. The "remake" they're putting out of Chrono Trigger is technologically inferior to ANY other game that has been released on the DS thus far. I know they can do way better.

Check that link out for a fan-made trailer of something that would have been much more viable as a remake than what is being put out.

This thread is bizarre...but strangely amusing.
