I would love to play the old Sega games, but not for 200$. Especially when the Sega collections on any modern console of choice offers up all of the better games in HD and with remastered sound for MUCH less.
Even still, for collectors and people who held on to their old cartridges (good for you), this is probably a Godsend. More power to you.
@dzimm: I hear that, and I'm aware of the implications. I also agree, but artists in the industry do just that all the time. It's what we get paid to do. Art teams scale with the project. Big budget games have dozens of people doing the same things or little pieces of 'The Grand Puzzle', which is a collaboration of work that all comes together and meshes in the end. The thing that can become irritating is having to create iteration after iteration of the same thing with minor changes, but that only serves to fulfill the 'vision' and is part of the fun of the job in my opinion. It's also why most artists in the industry no longer do anything outside of general sketching and thumbnail art with a pencil and paper. It's almost all digital so that multiple iterations and changes can be made fairly fluidly.
Bottom line: it's possible, and it happens more than you (apparently) think it does. It would still be awesome if it takes that kind of direction. That's one main reason I love the Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver games - the time gaps and different art directions ; )
