@lionheartssj1: Crash Bandicoot and Travis Touchdown have been pretty popular lately.

Goldeneye 007 on N64: turning on several cheat codes such as invisibility and unlimited ammo. My siblings and myself always got a kick of the bathrooms in the facility level. We would throw around as many remote mines in the bathrooms Around each enemy and when we leave we set them all off prompting loud explosions and those goofy voices the enemies make when hurt.

Also failing the Silo level with invincibility and invisibility cheats on. Get towards the end of the stage where you have to plant the C4. Shooting it instead of completing the level would prompt an endless explosion loop and going through the entire level you will blow up any enemy you get in proximity with.

@jaydan: I can't argue over Goose Game, as I have no interest to play it. It doesn't ring a bell with me, but I know that game journalists usually have a soft spot for artsy indie games. So, there's that.

Edit: Yes, it is quite weird for them not to mention Astral Chain. I wouldn't say it's GOTY for me, as my interest for the game faded before I reached its end, but I liked the time I spent with it enough to recommend it.

Is Untitled Goose Game even deserving of being the best artsy indie game this year? Better indie games have come out.

The world has been suckered in and enamored by cuteness. That's the only thing the game has going for itself, and nothing else. It was a fad. It was what talk shows wanted to make a segment out of to get people's reactions over cuteness. It was a viral sensation.

Viral sensations is not what makes a game great. It can be for all the wrong reasons.

So you've played and enjoyed Astral Chain, albeit you didn't finish it. It was a non-offensive experience to you, and I'm sure you can see why it was special to many others. You can probably see Astral Chain is a solid foundation to what can be a truly great franchise.

All these are reasons why Astral Chain got hugely snubbed.

@jaydan: Astral Chain is fine, but as you said, it's very niche.

Astral Chain is seemingly niche over the matter it's a brand new IP, but it also comes from arguably one of the best current Japanese devs working in the business, PlatinumGames. They are a well-known studio.

Astral Chain has received loads of critical praise among most major review platforms, and strong approval among the consumers and some even declare it among overall GOTY of 2019.

That is a huge snub to not even acknowledge it as among the best Switch games.

How is a novelty like Untitled Goose Game above that? At the very most you will play this game for two hours and you'll be done. The only times you will ever pull it out again is if you're drunk/high with your friends and want to put on something random or you're hanging out with your grandmother who's so out-of-touch with video games you're humored to see how she'd react to it.

Seriously now? Astral Chain got snubbed big-time.

I can't believe Gamespot chose a game about a goose that's nothing more than a novelty experience over a major new game IP like Astral Chain that's on most top Switch games on most other sources.

I guess when a goose novelty got more popular through a fad and being joked around on talk shows, that will rule over a niche anime action game.

@uninspiredcup: either way though, Joaquin Phoenix is an auteur actor and not a sequels kind of guy. The fact he's the one that's been openly expressing his interest in doing a sequel during his press tour is saying something. The fact he finds room and desire for more exploration in this universe is a positive sign it will be a worthy and expanded sequel.
