The symptoms sound like a bad CPU, but it could be overheating. I would try reseating the heatsink on it with a new application of thermal paste.

Doubt it's a factor, but why is your mem running at 667? Is it not pc6400, and if not, why?

I would disconnect the hard drive and then try entering the BIOS. If it's faster, then the problem is the hard drive. The front cover may have screws on the inside holding it in place if you don't see any tabs.

Just because those cards aren't listed as supported devices, it doesn't mean they won't work.

Yeah, changed the channel and I've been getting better speeds. Now it goes up to 24mbps sometimes, but most of the time it's 18 or 11. Still don't know why I don't get all 54mbps. And yeah, 100% positive it's a 802.11g. And the 100mbps, I just went onto the computer that has the modem set up, hovered over the connection icon and it said "speed: 100mbps." Do you guy's know why I don't get all 54mbps. I'm pretty far away from the router, but I mean a lot of the times I have a very good signal (4 out of 5 bars lighted up). bedram793

The 100Mbps you see is not your internet speed, but rather the wired speed between your PC and the router.

As for your inconsistent wireless speed, it all depends on the signal strength. If the signal is crap, your speed will be crap as well. As long as the speed it shows you does not affect your browsing speed, or whatever you do online, I wouldn't worry about it, since even at 11Mbps for wireless, your internet speed is still slower anyways.

Try a different cable. If it still does it, then I'd say it could be your router.

Okay, I have a 802.11g wireless card, and I read I should be able to get up to 54mbps. Now, my home's internet speed is 100mbps, and even if I have a signal of 4/5 (4 out of 5 bars that is, which means very good signal) then the maximum I get is only 11mbps. I read the 802.11b wireless card gets at highest a 11mbps, but mine is a 802.11g. What can be causing this problem? bedram793

Doubtful about your home internet speed being 100Mbps, since most cable systems only offer between 7 and 10 Mbps. Perhaps the wired network connection from your router is 100Mbps, that would be normal. As for your wireless signal, is your router by any chance 802.11b? You do know that your router would also have to be 802.11g like your wireless card. If it is G, then check your router's config to ensure it isn't limited to 11Mbps.

As for the signal dropping when the phone rings, does the base unit on your cordless phone have 2.4Ghz listed on it by any chance? If so, either buy a new 5Ghz cordless phone to replace it or try changing the channel on the router as previously stated.

Install service pack 1 for Vista if you haven't done that yet. Then turn down most of the video settings.
