[QUOTE="hendrix29"]

[QUOTE="Dj-Dark-1"]It was meant to be scheduled for March this year but last year they put the project on hold because of a lack of coders. So i think its still on hold and i might expect sometime late 2008/Early 2009.Dj-Dark-1

how do you know any of this? First off, this is likely NOT TRUE, and secondly it may not ever come out.

From looking at the whole of this thread and what i have discussed with some other users, that is just an estimate.

When something is on hold, and they have no coders to work on the project, that means they are really, really in trouble.

[QUOTE="hendrix29"]Yet, you can help people out with slightly more work, by making forums for it. Do you guys honestly think they'd make these things now? Many of the top unions are dead/dying, and some have moved, and more are moving. msudude211

If I moved offsite, I would get half the activity I get now. Even if Gamespot doesn't go through with V2, I'll still remain with my union here.

That's hardly true at all, and backing up what Dirijor said, if you are a capable administrator, your activity will likely shoot up. The fact that now you can invite members from anywhere, and make the site more appealing actually takes a load off an admins shoulders. As long as you are responsible and care enough, then moving off-site is more than an option.

that's because you guys are almost certainly biased. I was with you guys originally, but I made a fully-functional forum and website completely free, and we're having a resurgence unlike any other. My new forum, although harder to get members for, is altogether FAR more active than my originally TESFU. If you need proof, check the link here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/TESFU_Forums/index.php?act=idx

That's 8500 posts in a month and a half, and I'm sure CW would have even better numbers being an off-topic site, made off-site. The actual website is what really sold me though, it gives SOO MANY options. Just check out how this beats the GS union archive by a mile: http://tesfanunion.googlepages.com/home

When I was active at TESFU, I posted them all the time. They are a major source of activity at a game-related union, and unique weekly features can easily keep members interested. I posted a mods of the week article, a weekly article on the lore and history of the gameworld, fan-fics, any news on TES, and guides to cities.

I'm not urging you, I'm telling you there absolutely is no point to leading a union now. It's not like it offers anything cool to do, and if it's not creative, then there really shouldn't be an existing union in the first place. Unions are good for small little things, but not widespread, big communities who are actually involved.

alright time for a little bit of a rant, and a secret I'd like to let out. Simply put, GameSpot will never make unions version two, because CNET will constantly hold them back, they'd rather not invest the time and money involved, and it's not a sure thing profitably. Therefore, making a free website, which takes just as much time to set up, if you are responsible and creative enough, is much more the way to go than anything else. The Elder Scrolls Fan Union already has a website, so does the Age of Empires Union, and so will the Headcrab Union (it's being developed).

How many members do you have?blizzvalve

we have near 200 now, but recruitment has slowed in turn for the development of the actual site. Here's what we have so far, and it's absolutely free: http://tesfanunion.googlepages.com/home
