This idea came to me randomly. Thought it might make a decent thread. :)

Of course I mean what comes to mind other than something very obvious. :P

So please explain how both words are so far apart that my topic title doesn't make sense. Both words mean a second name for a person.

XilePrincess

*facepalm*

A nickname is a name, nothing more. It has no affect on who you are, but can be inspired by who you are or things you do.

An alter ego is a different personality or persona a person takes on.

Name =/= entire being. If you're actually going to argue batman, you're a lost cause.

Was that so hard? Instead of explaining yourself from the start you decide to be an ass hat and insult me. Now I understand where the first guy was coming from.

EDIT: Either way my topic title does make sense. In it I never said that an alter ego and nickname are the exact same thing.

But in the universe, only a few people know he's Batman.....They don't walk up to Bruce Wayne and say "Ey, Batman! Wassup?!"

harashawn

People outside of the universe call him by both. One could run into a mall and yell "Bruce Wayne" and there's sure to be atleast one person he knows that Bruce Wayne is also Batman.

I feel like I'm arguing over something not important :|

Batman and Bruce Wayne are two distinct identities of the same person; that is why it's not just a nickname.

Ah, now that makes sense and I can see your point.

But dammit I'm proud of my topic title! :P

No, but people can identify him as Batman.
