Listen I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600. It has been my main hobbie throught my entire life. I know the genre. It really depends on how you define difference and similarity. Im not saying the games play exactly the same. I am saying has KOF copied elements of Streetfighter more so than Streetfighter has been infuenced by KOF. I know they have differences- such as Streetfighter is a one one one fighter while KOF is a team fighter. To your mind the games have many differences, to my mind the games have many similarities. lets agree to disagree.

Yes they are They are both 2d fighters. Ryo from KOF is basically a copy of the character Ryu from streetfighter. You perform fireballs the same way as in streetfighter. There are endless similarities.

Your new to this genre it seems.
Those are nothing but aesthetics. And if you truly played KoF, you would know Ryo is very much different from Ryu. Far from a copy.
Plus the games play very differently.
The fireball motion is something within the genre. Most 2D games use similar motions, because if everything was different it would become pointlessly difficult to do special moves.
I am not new to the genre. I have played both games. Every video game has its its own unique characteristics. You honestly think the two games are not similar? Most 2d fighter use the firball motion because of the massive influence of Streetfighter II. KOF copies alot of thing from Streetfighter both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. Im not saying KOF isnt fun I am just saying Streetfighter is an influencial game. The games are more the same than they are different.

Its basically a poor mans Streetfighter. I picked up King of Fighters XII for $10. I only played it a few times. It was let down by the fact there are no ending sequences and no unlockables. I like the old 2d sprite based fighters they are so retro. I used to play King of Fighter the arcade machine at a ten pin bowling alley when I was a kid.
