no i do want the hdtv in my room, its just the standalone player would be larger then the add on, and i know its a great deal with the 10 movies but for 300 dollers im thinking of everything else i could have spend the money on. i hate decisions.

also would i notice a difference between the standalone toshiba a3 hooked up through hdmi compared to the xbox hooked up through component on hd dvds ( not upscalling)

thanks for opinons, so im not going to buy a new xbox, but do you think i should still return the 300 doller player and get the add on for 150(on amazon), but it would be hooked up through component. But they i would also not have the 10 free movies, but be saving 150 dollers. The reason im leaning towards this is because im going back to college dorm life after xmas break and i dont know if i want a hd dvd player on top of my 360 and hdtv in my lil room. thanks

Ok so firstly iv owned an xbox 360 since 06. It does not have the hdmi port on it. Yesterday i bought an HD dvd player for 300 (it came with 10 free hd dvds so i kinda fell prey to the advertising) anyways the main reason i got that was because it has hdmi and so does my new 32 in samsung. I havnt opened it yet because now i am having second thoughts. I wanted it because it would upscale dvds and because it was hdmi and my xbox is currently hooked up through component. Now i have been thinking about returning the hd dvd player and just getting the hd dvd add on for the 360, but i really want hdmi. So i was thinking of trading in my xbox taking the hit and buying a new one with hdmi standard on it. But i do not want to loose my hard drive. would there be a way to just trade in the 360 without the hd or just swap it out at the store the moment i get the new one. I know this sounds weird, but i view it as im dropping 300 bux on a dvd player when i could spend less and get an hdmi 360 and hd dvd add on. I really dont know what to do, im also hesitant on using vga because on my old vizio it was washed out so i returned the cable, but i dont know if that will be the case on the samsung. So basically i need your advice, i know theres alot of questions, but im a bit overwhelmed right now on what to do.

thanks, let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

also i think my xbox is close to dying so that is another reason towards trading it in. Do the new xboxs come with hdmi and would i be able to just sell it as a core system if i didnt include the hd?

or should i just return it and get an iphone(only half joking)

I am playing games alot smoother but im trying to figure out if its my cpu and ram or the video card. Thanks, also is there a way i can get directx 10 without using genuine windows advantage thingy

i just got vista, so now i got media center, well the 360 wont play anything says it needs codecs, but i have codecs on my pc.  Im assuming sadly that it has to be in wmv format to work, or can i download the codec to the 360?

i dont really game anymore on my pc, because well its not that new, but i do spend a good 7 hours a day on it, i listen to music and constantly just use hte pc, ill occasionaly play rollercoaster tycoon 3 or some game like that.  Basically i want vista.  I just love new things, and well vistas pretty new.  Is it a bad investment to buy vista just to have it?
